We had a great over night stay here and the highlight for us was talking with the hosts, who were so friendly and welcoming. We had great conversation with them bith on arrival and at breakfast the next morning. Of course...fab food and great accomodation.

I came here for an evening meal. Very tasty and excellent service. Definitely worth considering if you are looking for a finer dining experience.

Great cuisine and friendly service. Well worth a visit for a special occasion

Paid a deposit to reserve a table for a special occasion. Unfortunately I became seriously unwell. I contacted the establishment with plenty of notice to try and rearrange our visit. I was told this would only be possible if I paid another deposit! Shocking disregard for customers. Openly stealing money from customers without providing any service. Would never book again and would advise everyone to avoid

A very nice accommodation and nicely kept gardens. Very clean bedroom and comfortable bed. The bathroom was small and to have a bath or a shower that is situated in the bath it is very difficult and dangerou because its so deep and to get in or out of the bath there is no support handles. I can see a accident happening before long. The breakfast menu was very good and the presentation was excellent though there was a neg, the toast that is served was made with sour dough and you would require a hammer and chisel to cut it. It would have been nice if the toast was made with conventional bread. Although the breakfast room was smart and airy it was like a doctors surgery, it required some background music to make it more welcoming. Also it would have been nice if after being served with the breakfast we were asked if everything was OK and did we require anything else.I feel there was a lacking of people skills by certain members of staff though some of the younger staff could not do enough for you.

Food is well-executed, but sadly not particularly exciting. The menu feels a bit dated; these are dishes you'd expect 15 years ago, and that would be fine, but in that case expectations and prices should be lowered.

We had a delicious meal yesterday, opting for the 7 course tasting menu which provided a fantastic mix of dishes. The paired wines were also great and the staff provided a great service. Would recommend booking in if you're going to be in the area.

We had a fabulous meal at The Salty Monk for our Anniversary. My Wife is Coeliac so menu choice is often limited but at The Salty Monk she had lots of options and they said they could adapt other dishes too. The food and service were both fantastic. Definitely highly recommended.

Really nice hotel and fantastic suite we stayed in. A couple of minor niggles; although the menu caters for vegan and gluten free etc, they did not have skimmed milk available; their suggestion was to water down the semi-skimmed they provided, frankly stupid suggestion that doesn't work. We went to the local shop just down the road to get our own. The second issue was that they had run out of baked beans at breakfast; my wife and I appeared to be the first guests down for breakfast but no baked beans available, we didn't go to the shop but they could easily have done so.

We visited the Salty Monk for an Afternoon Tea last year while on holiday. And we were absolutely delighted by the whole experience! The interior was exquisitely presented and the outdoor seating area was in a beautiful peaceful garden. The staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks they offer. The selection of delicious items in the afternoon tea was astounding. Absolutely delicious. Possibly the best scones I've ever tasted. The highlight was probably the dragon pearl tea (I think I'm remembering the name correctly) which was presented as a dried flower which gradually opened out as the hot water was added to the pot. We were mesmerised! Would highly recommend and would love to go back and stay in the hotel itself.
