I was craving a cream tea for a while and I decided to go back to Southern Cross.I couldn't forget the last couple of times we`ve been there and the feeling I had while sitting inside that amazing old little house 😍. The reason I always go back is because they have the best homemade scones (warm and fresh) served with plenty of clotted cream and tasty (real!) strawberry jam. They also have a menu with lots of goodies (eggs - scrambled, poached, fried; soup; toasted sandwiches; baked potatoes). The owners are amazing, warm people, happy to see us there even if we only order a coffee. The garden is amazing all year round and is has, as a permanent guest, a very lovely, chatty Guinea Pig 💜.If you are looking for a place in which to relax and eat something tasty and fresh, this is the place!* Been back to that magical garden for the cream tea and enjoyed the sunny afternoon outside. I think they need to put some beds outside because is so hard to leave that peaceful place. 🙏💞

Have been driving past here for years, so decided try it out, wish we had popped in sooner as the cream tea was delicious! The homemade warm scones were generous in size, accompanied with loads of fresh clotted cream and strawberry jam. A perfect pit-stop if you are on route to Budleigh Salterton.

We did not stay as live locally but took our friend for a cream "lunch!"sat out in the garden. It is "the best in the area" delicious crunchy scones, lashings of cream & strawberry jam & a lovely big pot of tea, hubby went for the cheese scone with apple chutney which also was super

Dropped in on the way from Budleigh S to Bridport for some lunch. We went for the cream tea. Neither of us could finish it. Two large home made scones, loads of clotted cream and good strawberry jam. The tea itself was lovely: loose leaf with layers of flavour like tea used to be. We sat inside amongst the exposed timbering because it was chilly, but plenty of hardy souls were enjoying the garden.

Excellent Devon Cream Tea. Lashings of clotted cream and Jam. Just how a Cream Tea should be. Lovely garden toenjoy. No rushing you. We booked for 2.45 pm and we were early which was not a problem and very much appreciated as my nephew had to return home. The staff were very polite and accommodating

Finally decided to venture out for a much needed cream tea and chose Southern Cross from past experience. Booking request promptly confirmed. Delicious cream tea and excellent friendly service. Will return very soon for another when I've run off this one!

I would think the best cream tea in Devon or possibly the whole of the UK give it a try you won't be disapointed, set in a lovely garden, friendly owners and it won't break the bank.

Used to go here many years ago when we visited Sidmouth. Still looks the same, still delicious home made scones with gorgeous Devon clotted cream, still lovely china crockery and a proper brew. All in all, I don't think you would find a better cream tea anywhere.

Though we didn't stay over, we stopped for their well reviewed cream tea! It was a 20min detour but absolutely worth it!The tea was perfectly brewed, scones cooked to perfection and still dream of that clotted cream and jam!!! Highly recommended

We came late on in the afternoon and had the most lovely cream tea of our whole holiday. Sat outside in a secluded little garden, fresh scones, clotted cream and jam! Would 100% recommend, friendly and pleasant staff!
