The Black Horse Inn in East Devon

Would give 3.5 stars if I could. The food was great, really tasty and generous portions. The beer selection was woeful, and the decor definitely needs updating, even had chairs that didn't match with themselves 😅 wasn't high end in any way, shape or form apart from the food, and the service was really good. I would come back for the food but wouldn't make it my regular unless it has a full update

Ate here with family. They enjoyed their fish and chips but my lasagna lacked flavour. The pub seemed popular with the locals.

Met family here with the idea of having a bite to eat. From the outside I was not too sure about its quality because it is not really that pretty and feels rather dowdy. However when we entered the internal decor is lovely. The stuffed toys were a little strange but as I saw later on, little children love them. We all had a sunday roast. We were provided with individual two couple vegetables to accompany our meal. We had a very large plate full of food which tasted delicious. Overall we were all very impressed and will return. I will recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good meal on sundays.

Fantastic really good quality food in a lovely setting. No cheap but worth every penny. Will definitely be going back.

This place is perfectly situated, being half way between our home and our holiday destination, and we've been coming here for many years. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is good. Service is quick, and we can get on our way usually within an hour.

Just moved to Devon, visited this eatery as it's near to where we are and we were not disappointed. The service was superb, friendly, welcoming and attentive. As a former pub landlady I found the staff, customer service, decor, facilities and ambience to be top notch and we will definitely be back!👍😊

SuperbThis was my first visit and I will definitely be back. Lovely pub, very clean and welcoming and the staff all very friendly. I went with friends and we pre-ordered from the Christmas menu. The food was fantastic, really tasty, cooked to order and served on warm plates which meant it stayed hot right to the last mouthful.Catered very well for friend with food allergies and even made sure her plate was clearly marked.Only niggle was the after dinner coffee as it was way too strong but they kindly made us another with less shots

Fantastic pub and restaurant. The service team were very attentive and the landlord was very welcoming. A great team of people working to make your visit very enjoyable. They have a nice variety of dishes and drinks on offer and every thing is well prepared. The kitchen team clearly care about what leaves the kitchen. We had a great evening and would highly recommend the Black Horse Inn.
