The Clipper in East Devon

Beach side cafe located right at the mouth of the estuary of the sea in Shaldon. Choice of Outside eating where you can watch the boats go by or inside eating and a outside balcony with sea views upstairs . Friendly efficient staff. Modern clean interior, lots of natural light. In the summer they have a ice cream hut to buy local ice cream to take away and eat on the beach which is next to cafe Makes a great place meet up with friend's and family good food, well priced.

We love this cafe the location, the decor, the setting and food is one of the best, the food so tasty we had the falafel wrap it was beautiful we always stop here when in shaldon would 100% recommend

Loved this upmarket cafe for dinner and breakfast. Excellent location with fabulous views from our upstairs table. Decent food and reasonable prices. We'll worth a visit.

Lovely setting, really good service and excellent fish and chips. Also much quieter on the Shaldon side, just a quick ferry journey from Teignmouth. Would definitely go again.

What a great place to find on a cold and windy Monday in January. I enjoyed a blooming fantastic full engish "Captains breakfast" two eggs, two very tasty sausages, two bacon, hash brown, beans, mushrooms and fried bread! I also ordered a pot of tea.All reasonably priced with quick service and friendly staff.The cafe had a good atmosphere with some lovely veiws of Shaldon beach. The downstairs was a dog friendly area which great for those beach walks.

Beautiful spot for lunch. Food and service was great we got SO MANY chips which was much appreciated! Views are lovely upstairs

As always it's a pleasure to go to the clipper. A great welcome, great service, great food and a really nice setting.So much nicer than our experience of the pub up the hill

I think the place is excellent and the food was very nice, but…we waited over half an hour to be served. From what I could make out I think that the staff made a mistake. It seems the previous table guests order had not been cleared of the system and so the staff thought we had been served…this is just my assumption from what I was able to work out. No apology was offered to us having to wait so long. Despite that I think the staff were otherwise friendly and once we made our order the food was served quite quickly and was enjoyable. I would go again but 3 stars for the long wait and no apology.

Food was pretty good, but views are awesome! It’s a perfect location. We sat outside and it’s just great…. And they’re dog friendly which makes me love it!It would have gotten a 5⭐️ if it weren’t for the horrendous service. I feel like everyone we came in contact with was clueless and needs some serious customer training. The one girl just walked around the floor slowly just doing nothing…. We waited over ten minutes to get served, we didn’t get checked back, and we had to ask for the bill twice. Just not any care of attention given to tables, but not a lack of staff as there we’re probably 4 or 5 front of house staff that we saw.

We would like to say how nice it is to hear staff mention how well looked after they are by their management. Not only that but to see management actually work on the floor is great too.We love coming to you year after year.
