Excellent service & friendly staff. Superb setting overlooking Jacobs Ladder beach & cliff walkway. Well worth a visit.

Favourite cafe in Devon- great coffee, unreal cakes and they have some great veggie / vegan options for lunch. Also the views are exceptional!

What an excellent location. There is seating inside but the views outside in the courtyard and gardens are superb although you might have to watch out for predatory seagulls.I was pleased to see a choice of gluten free cakes on offer and can recommend the pecan flapjack, which was very tasty and good value at ÂŁ2.50.The friendly server was justifiably proud of the range of gluten free cakes and pointed out others that missed my attention. The coffees were served in 'to go ' cups which meant we could enjoy them while wandering round the gardens. There were plenty of litter bins available. The toilets were very clean .

Very disappointing. The only food I could order to eat at the outside tables was a breakfast roll, which was fine for me but not for my vegetarian daughter. There was no flexibility to order an egg roll outside - limited to bacon or sausage. We left, incredibly fed up. This had always been a good place to eat before but I see it’s under new management who are clearly not tolerant of vegetarians. We won’t be back sadly.

Awesome cakes and very generous portions. Other food & drinks also available. Dog friendly & additional seating upstairs.

Sadly the new management don't appear to be emulating the great food and service of the previous owners. Service is v slow, and the cakes look bought in. A shame, it used to be a great hot drink spot with fantastic home made mini cakes.Well the management did kindly reply to me and have assured me the cakes are not bought in, in which case they look v professional!!! So I've upped my 1 star to a 3 star, but I haven't sampled the cakes. And as for the slow service, I will give the team the benefit of the doubt as they're probably still finding their feet.

Nice setting at the top of Jacobs Ladder but can’t see myself returning for a second visit. The food I got was nice enough but not what I was looking for. They advertise sandwiches but don’t even sell them, only baguettes. Nothing is made to order it’s only what they’ve already made and kept in the fridge. To be fair I though £6.00 was a little over the top for a Ham & Cheese baguette. I also had a sausage roll which was not your traditional style but a very large one then cut into individual slices. It was homemade and did taste lovely, also slightly higher than I’d normally pay at £3.50.I think a 4 star rating is fair taking in to account the selection and pricing. It is lovely up there but with limited seating outside only you may have to find a bench around the gardens.

What a fantastic choice of cakes! Only had chance to try a piece of the Victoria Sandwich but it was so delicious and massive, but enough to begrudgingly share!Snacks, sandwiches and coffees etc are also available and you can either sit inside upstairs (no lift) or outside in the gorgeous Connaught Gardens. They give a 10% discount if you take your own cup.

Good Coffee and cake. Dogs allowed in the beautiful outdoor seating. Friendly staff.Clean toilets. Confusing queueing mechanism. We ordered a second round of cold coffee.I consider £ 10,- very expensive for 2 premade coffee in a package. Especially when one came out of non cold storage. Otherwise it would be 4 🌟. Their fresh made coffee is cheaper. Update changed to 4 star. Still think better information to customers would be niceEdits: made clear that the 10 GBP was for 2 coffee after a mail by the owner. To clarify our point, 5 GBP for one simple cold coffee is expensive. I initially thought it was something different. It is a brand that is maybe only sold in the UK . I have not seen it in France, Belgium, Germany or the Netherlands. I expect that price level, for a good flat white because that takes extra work. The guy after the counter should not have tried selling me an uncooled package d drink or at least have asked. This review is not harsh but factual.5 star for good location, cakes and home made iced coffee. However..-1 for overpriced packaged coffee-1 for selling 1 uncooled packaged coffee-1 for the banquette, that excellent stilton cheese really deserves better bread2 star remaining.

Fantastic venue with spectacular cliff sea views and a beautiful outdoor seating area. I visited in May with friends for afternoon tea. Wonderful selection of delicious-looking cakes (at least 14 varieties) as well as scones, all made on-site. Cake servings are very large - I couldn't finish mine! Contactless payment available.
