After hearing so much about this gastropub I decided to bring my fiancee down to try it out, disappointing to say the least we arrived early and service was slow, and we were seated between two large families so we could barely hear ourselves, the food was alright but definitely not worth the price, while my duck was a significant size portion my fiancées was smaller and only £3 difference between her chicken order which was dry and my duck order, starters was alright, this is an establishment that charges well above its quality of food and service, the staff never once checked to see how we liked it and cheekily charggedd us £3:75 for extra bread without telling us first. This is an establishment that prefers your money than you, we will not be going back. Having been to many gastropubs and restaurants this was a real let down and not worth the £77 pound we paid. Starters includes ham hock terrine and soup, Mains were duck and chicken.

Good food, beautifully presented and lovely, helpful and friendly staff as usual. However, I was disappointed to see that the relaxing 'lounge area' by the bar had been converted into extra tables. It used to be a very enjoyable and special feature to be asked to arrive half an hour before your table booking, to relax there with a drink, and choose your food. We were still asked to arrive half an hour early, but were immediately shown to our table. As a result, it all seemed rather a rushed experience. Pre-dinner drinks arrived, and orders for food taken too quickly to enjoy choosing your food. Such a shame!

An excellent experience from start to finish. Visited the venue to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday and we could not have been treated better. We were given a private room with a lovely lounge area and the staff were untiring in their friendly and efficient service. The food not only looked incredible but tasted fantastic. Thank you for an amazing evening and for making our friend's celebrations extra special.

Absolutely amazing food. On the slightly pricy side but definitely value for money as the food was top notch. I don't think the menu descriptions do the food justice. Portions were such that I was able to have a starter, main (plaice two ways with saffron mayo and sauteed leeks, a special of the day), and dessert (chocolate tart) and not feel uncomfortable after (but definitely didn't want any more food!). There was even a complimentary soup taster (caramelized cauliflower soup with toasted sesame seeds, so nice) to start and the espresso was served with a mini shortbread and truffle, homemade I'm sure. Plus, the music was absolutely fantastic! The service was excellent was well.

We went here for a celebratory meal after getting married and it was a lovely experience. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was high quality (though a little on the smaller side for the price). We had crab cocktail and gnocchi to start, then pork belly and lamb loin for mains, and finished off with a chocolate tart. A good place for a special treat but a bit pricey.

Came for a wedding reception here and it was great. Food was lovely and so were the staff. Loved the comfy leather sofa snug in the evening. Would recommend the cider on tap too.

We went here for a birthday celebration and we were impressed. The taster menu gives a real spread of equally delicious delicacies. Initially we were a little disappointed that the portions really were 'tasters' but as we got through them, including a complimentary veloute we actually became quite full. Definitely keen to return in the future.Oh the otter was lovely and the service friendly and attentive with a really relaxing atmosphere
