As a local I visited the above establishment yesterday early evening to have a few birthday drinks with two of my sons and three friends.Upon arrival we were greeted by a member of staff, possibly bar manager. I asked if there were any tables available, to which the chap replied yes they have one table available in the courtyard for six. He asked how many were in our group, I advised six. The staff member then asked if it was all young lads, I advised with the exception of me yes. The man then refused access on these grounds. I removed my hat (not that it should have been necessary) to reveal my grey hair pointing out I was actually 52!This made no difference the biased individual had already formed an opinion without rhyme nor reason and turned us away. For me, I have never been so embarrassed or humiliated in all my life. It was my understanding that the hospitality industry had been hit quite hard during these unprecedented times, yet they can allow staff to discriminate against hard working honest individuals. Absolutely disgusting, the individual involved should be ashamed of himself, what example is this teaching young men when they are treated this way.I for one will never set the foot in the place again, I will gladly give other local businesses my business. I will also make every effort to encourage family and friends to avoid such a premise where visitors are treated so appallingly, no doubt the young men I was with will do the same.
