Great food and staff. I used to live there. They say you should never go back but I am happy to make the occasional exception.

A nice pub, I took my 2 grandchildren in, the staff were lovely and accommodating, I ordered what was described as a smashed burger, basically a burger flattened with bacon and cheese, with 2 spicy chicken gourgons on top, with onion rings, pickle salad etc etc, the chips were really nice and the kids were pinching them while waiting for their meals, the server came over and asked if everything was ok, which at the time it was, when I ventured into my burger however I found that there onion rings were really greasy, the burger itself was burnt and the chicken over cooked, I normally would have called the server over and explained, but as I had the kids I decidednot too make afuss as that would mean another wait for it to be cooked, by which time the kids would be finished and wanting to play, so begrudgingly I ate what I could, but we didn't stay for dessert.Update 30th April 2022 -. Having only just been made aware of your response from my review, all your questions were clearly answered within my initial post. I reiterate that the only reason I didn't cause a fuss when I realised about my burger, was because of the children, I normally would immediately have notified a server, maybe a tip would be to have your server ask a bit later than only a few minutes into the meal, so the customer had a proper chance to sample all the fare. Regardless of what the chicken needed to be cooked at, if it was over cooked and rubbery, customers won't like it, so maybe a thicker piece of chicken perhaps would have helped? I think we spent maybe an hour with you, not a particularly considerable amount of time, in my opinion. I'm sorry that you were offended blah blah small business etc and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to damage any reputation, but unfortunately for whatever reason people don't always complain at the time and instead choose to leave a review afterwards, as I said before this was unusual for me, would you have preferred a personal message perhaps so that other customers would not have been able to read it? I did observe all the good things too, did you notice? And yes we very much enjoyed our chocolate ice-cream on our return, thank you for asking.
