The Wheelwright Inn in East Devon

We were travelling through the area and tried a couple of other places before finding the Wheelwright. Although they were fully booked and busy, they let us have a drink at the bar and wait for a table. The service was excellent, our hosts were welcoming and friendly. We had the roast beef and it was one of the best roasts we've had in a while, good quality ingredients and a decent sized portion. Will definitely be going back and would recommend as a friendly pub with a great atmosphere and tasty food.

Nice atmosphere been a few time's never had the chance to eat but have been told the food is lovely.

We recently held a surprise party for our friends in the function room at The Wheelwright and it was completely fabulous from start to finish. The Wheelwright fully catered the event, with lots of tasty options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike. The staff were friendly, the service was excellent and the function room itself is absolutely beautiful. We wouldn't hesitate in holding another event there in the future! Thank you team!

If you want something just that little bit special then this is it. Since Deb too over the atmosphere, offerings and service have really improved. Good choice on food and drinks and not a ripoff.I really recommend The Wheelwright if you are looking for just that little bit extra.

The staff made an effort for us to serve food earlier than planned which was appreciated & they were friendly. Drinks were nice but the food really wasn't great, my husband mentioned this about his own dish but as the response wasn't great I just said mine was ok as it felt a bit awkward.

Excellent food, warm welcome from the fabulous landlord and staff, if you are looking for a cosy Devon pub with great food then this is the place 🙏 will definitely visit again. Very enjoyable.

Lovely meal here, nice setting and friendly service. If I was being super picky I'd say the steak was slightly overcooked, there was too much garlic on it, and the pepper sauce was all pepper and no sauce.

What an incredible roast beef dinner! All freshly cooked veg, absolutely delicious. The best roast dinner ever! Fantastic chef, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff and service and brilliant host. I can see why you need to book here. Totally superb. A truly wonderful experience. If your near here, you must absolutely book and go, you won’t be disappointed. BEST EVER!

Fabulous food and exceptional service!! The freshly homemade gnocchi was delicious. The staff are very conscientious and take great pride in making you feel welcome. We will be back again!!
