The Compasses Inn Damerham in East Dorset

Food is nice but menu is not changed often enough, making it somewhat boring for ourselves as locals. The general staff are lovely but the decor and chairs are not cosy and the garden is wholly disappointing having clearly been neglected. Having stayed in one of the rooms, I can say that the rooms are not cleaned or tidied daily and my room was basic in the extreme. To get replenishment or new sheets/toilet roll/towels, over a week’s stay, I had to ask the manager/owner to do so. What hotel these days do not replenish at leat the toilet rolls and clean the bathroom?

Superb in every way (as long as you don't mind a few narrow lanes to get there!). No phone signal but good WiFi. Great room, excellent shower, brilliant food, one of the best breakfasts I've had for a long time. Friendly staff. Car park is not massive but I got the last space.

THE SERVICE WAS VERY FRIENDLY. ALL THE STAFF VERY POLITE AND HELPFUL.THE MENU HAS A BRILLIANT CHOICE AND THE FOOD IS SECOND TO NONE.MY WIFE, ASKED FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT ON THE MENU AND THEY OBLIGED OUR REQUEST, WITHOUT QUESTION.WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING BACK.AND SOON.

We had lunch. A small menu but with enough for vegetarians. All cooked well and great service. Prices reasonable too.

Great overnight stay with our dog. Felt very welcomed. Lovely staff. Comfortable stay. Had a roast dinner which was really nice. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this charming bed and breakfast for a few nights. The weather was very cold and it was lovely and cosy in the room and they have a nice fire in the bar/restaurant area. We had a delicious Sunday roast and their cooked breakfast was also good. A special mention to Chris who seemed to oversee things, he was very accommodating and sorted out any problems or concerns we had.

Brilliant!The food was delicious and service with a smile. The team were very attentive.It's true the decor is a little tired, but I know there is a Brad new management team in place (less than 1 month old) who have already implemented changed and are working on the decor as we speak.I look forward to our next visit. A lovely intimate setting.

Booked for a Sunday evening, arrived at 18.45 and sat in the lovely garden. The first course was nice fish and chips. We wanted a main and a sweet and asked if we need to order the sweet at the start and were told no, They would come back.The service was slow so by the time we were asked if we wanted a sweet the kitchen had closed and they could only offer ice cream. Disappointed. Not sure why that should happen. Here for a couple of weeks but will go elsewhere.
