The Old Inn in East Dorset

Just had a really lovely meal at The Old Inn, Holt. Staff very friendly, service really good, although they were busy. All meals very nice with huge portions. Leave room for a desert though they are amazing. Dogs were welcome too Thank you.

Lovely meal, staff all very friendly and efficient.The manager even took the time to come and chat to us despite how busy they were.Would recommend this establishment although may be wise to book.

Absolutely fantastic to be back for 1/2 price champagne Friday. Great food, excellent service. The seasonal decorations really make you feel welcome as winter draw as an in.

Usually I'd give this place 5 stars. It's a beautiful pub and restaurant and great staff and food. Maybe they were too busy as it was Christmas Eve but the table we specifically booked was given to another party. We were put on two small round tables pushed together which wasn't good. Two of our party had steak and ale pies and I had steak and kidney. None of them were good. Tough, chewy meat, soggy undercooked pastry and tasteless. We felt we couldn't complain again as we'd already complained about our table. Really surprised, as it's usually lovely. The other 3 meals were good and the place was packed. Maybe they need to concentrate on quality not quantity. Or maybe someone new doing the pies?We'll go again and hopefully it will be back to normal high standards. Just a shame as we were really looking forward to it.

I don't normally post reviews but am making an exception on this occasion as I was so impressed with this place. It has it all - great parking facilities, looks beautiful from the outside, tasteful decor inside too. All the staff we dealt with were excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. There were 3 of us in our party and we all completely cleared our plates. There were no delays between courses. Even the toilets are worth a mention - look like something out of an interior design magazine and beautifully clean. It was my first visit but will definitely be returning

Had roast beef here today, this pub has something for everyone. The beef was lean and perfectly cooked. The Christmas decorations are exceptional there is a beautiful warm snug with leather armchairs sooo Christmasy 🎄. In the rear garden there’s plenty more seating and a pizza oven, the summers here must be as perfect as the winters and Christmas’s. Absolutely with out doubt a well managed gem. Can’t wait to return in the summer 👍

We had a great time came down from Wales for a early Christmas meal with family as who knows what will happen in these hard times stafe we're great and its a beautiful location only thing was there were no Christmas crackers xx

Staff were really friendly, the layout flowed and the food was amazing! Absolutely one of my favourite places to go out to eat .

I would need an extra star for the review of this fabulous place! 😁 we have chosen this pub completely at random and been very pleasantly surprised! The pub has it all, stunning building, with great outside (front and back) garden to sit in, beautifully decorated inside. Staff were great, attentive, very professional and friendly- very pleasant overall. And then there is the food, I do not have a high standard, but boy, did I enjoy the food at this pub!!! 👏👏👏 Best mushroom soup I have ever eaten (had other things as well 🤣)😋 to end it all, I have been pleasantly surprised with the prices. For the quality of service and the quality of food, I would have been more than happy to pay more!!! My new favourite pub, shame its almost 3hrs away.If you are considering The Old Inn, please go for it, you will not be disappointed!!!

Best food I’ve had in a really long time, every course was excellent and we weren’t left waiting for long either despite them being busy. From the excellent food to the incredibly pleasant and warming staff I don’t think I could say one negative thing. Would 100% come back in a heart beat
