Phoned up late on a Sunday needing lunch, great reception and made welcome by name when me and my wife arrived. An absolutely wonderful lunch served by smiling staff who just did enough to make us feel special without overloading us with attention. Price a little more than a good carvery but quality food, table service and clean plates. A great place to eat.

What a lovely pub. We popped in here on the way home from a visit to the castle. Staff were soooooo friendly and helpful. Absolutely beautiful pub. Definitely pop in again if we're in the area 😊😊😊

We are here after watching Exeter chiefs and have been many times previously but not to eat. Was absolutely lovely pork belly and were stayed here after the England game..was perfectly nice room albeit compact but very clean and modern and a little warm but opening Windows worked fine. Great stay after sandy Park.

Great value stopover ideal for the rugby and local sights. We stopped one night for the rugby and had the evening meal breakfast and lunch. Food is fantastic and they cover gluten free food options throughout. Staff are friendly and we got good service throughout our stay. Room 1 was good but does get noise on occasion from adjacent road. Can highly recommend for price.

Five of us went on Friday 14th January for fish and chips which previously had been excellent. That's why we recommended we went. We were served with cold food on cold plates, the fish half- sized, dry and overcooked, chips not crisp. Our friends were embarrassed for us and we didn't complain as they asked us not to. We told the server about the cold plates and he said they'd run out of hot plates. Not good enough. We're locals and will not return.

Service was so slow. Our starter arrived with the meal. Poor selection of vegetarian meals. Coffee was cold. Gentleman working wore his mask under his nose constantly. What a shame, used to love this place.

Excellent Christmas meal today for 5 of us. 1 with specific dietary requirements. They, as always provide a wonderful 3 courses meal, great welcoming and attentive staff. Such a lovely venue to enjoy time with friends. Thank you

Lovely pub not far from the rugby ground. Dinner was superb (book in advance!) and they are dog friendly - my one was under the table whilst we ate dinner! Great place and we'll be coming back when we return to Devon

Having searched for somewhere near Exeter we found the Blue Ball via the OpenTable app. On arrival we were very warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. Our table wasn’t ready so we had a drink and waited (we were early!)The food is wonderful and portions are large! For starters we had the mushrooms and baked Camembert. Our mains my partner had Brisket of Beef with fondant potatoes, kale, beans and a red wine gravy. I had the Sausages and Mash, with veg, onions and that gravy.A great pub serving great food with great staff.Well worth a visit.
