My girlfriend and I had dinner here over the weekend. Excellent service and superb food! Thank you very much for accommodating our wine needs and the post supper cocktail.

Just walk in without booking after a long 3 hours drive, lucky us have a table and have to say nothing to complain, a perfect steak, beautiful lemon sole, would come here for dinner if I was local. You guys deserve a supper 5 stars.

Style over substance. Steak was over seasoned and over done. Not medium rare as ordered. Outer texture tasted burnt and crispy. Of the child's portion of fries i was given, they were far too salty. Steak butter accompaniments also underwhelming arriving cold set in a butter dish. If you want steak in Exeter head to Harry's.

If you are going for steaks in Exeter then this is the place to be. Chateaubriand was proper melt in the mouth cooking of beef. However, that is where the good ends for me. I've marked it down a couple of stars due to their questionable allergy procedures. A nut allergy isn't an uncommon one so whilst I know I wouldn't be able to eat some items, I didn't realise that traditionally nut-free items would also be off the menu. The first was with the chips. They looked divine (and my partner said they tasted it too) but I couldn't have them as the kitchen fried walnuts in the same fryer as the chips. Quite disappointing tbh and made me question why I even bothered letting them know of my allergy in advance. The second was much more of a farce. On dessert, I wasn't allowed any of the ice cream as the waitress said the kitchen uses the same scoop for all the ice cream and other sweet things so there may be cross contamination. Given how I could walk into any ice cream store where they sell pistachio & nutella flavours etc etc but be confident the chocolate and strawberry flavours dont' contain nuts, I thought this excuse was a bit of a cop out and has probably put me off in ever going back.In short, great steaks but just a bit of a disappointment that it's tainted by not getting the basics of food hygiene right.

Modern fine dining restaurant with smartly thought out design and exciting menu.We had a set three course menu - vegetarian and pescatarian options . Ideas behind each dish are bright, fresh and novel. However mushroom on toast lacked depth of flavour. Beetroot and Jerusalem artichoke in Risotto dish needed more texture and caramelisation. All in all very lovely place and exciting team. Will be following your culinary journey.
