Just had a two night stay at this Boutique Hotel and i must say it was amazing. Lovely accommodation in a quirky hotel with the most impressive team of people looking after guests. The food was superb so much so we had one meal booked and then cancelled a restaurant booking to eat in the hotel again. The breakfast is one of the tastiest I've had in years. Well done everyone for making our stay the best!!!!

Lovely food, pretty outside area with cover and fairy light, rather magical touch. Would return.

Amazing hospitality from the moment we entered. Chose to book this over a premier Inn as a treat before valentine's. We were put in room 12 which was beautiful. I'm fairly picky with hotels as I am a hotel duty manager myself.10/10 for cleanliness10/10 for staff attitude10/10 for cool quirky featuresSpecial shout out to the chap (I was told he was the GM or deputy? I can't actually remember) Answered all questions before me and my partner could ask. Hospitality is not the easiest industry right now so to provide an experience that people won't forget is truly amazing. Hats off!

Hotel is well placed to explore Exeter.it is a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants and the Cathedral but on a side street so not too noisy. We had a lovely room. Nicely decorated and furnished to celebrate the local sheep and wool trade. TV had Sky channels available There was a spacious shower room with space to set out toiletries and a good shower. The bar was a cosy place for a pre-dinner drink. The menu was not long but had a range of options and we were pleased with our food both at dinner and breakfast. The staff were lovely and helpful. Ruth served our dinner and Nicola checked us in and was the breakfast server.Whilst it was too cold for us to make use of the outside space there was a good sized outdoor area with lights and heaters. The City Gate has no on-site parking but there is plenty a very short walk away. We were able to use an App to top up payment from our room which made it quite convenient. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend in Exeter.

·

Easily the classiest pub in Exeter. Staff are efficient & remarkably friendly and the food is scrumptious! Hotel lovely and comfortable and welcoming to Jarvis, the cocker spaniel for our two night stay. Highly recommend The City Gate if you are visiting Exeter.

Great place to have a drink. We sat outside and they have obviously spent a lot of money on heaters, lights and cover. So beautiful. Great staff. Lovely way to spend an evening x
