Saint George and Dragon Inn in Exeter

First time we’ve use this place. Came in for drinks. Looked at the Breakfast menu but declined as we weren’t hungry. I think this annoyed the server. She brought our drinks over and immediately after brought the bill. We hadn’t asked for this and we would have brought more drinks if she hadn’t done this. When we went to pay the bill the server said “ if you want a more value breakfast there’s a Toby carvery down the road. Very rude. I doubt wel come back.

Nice cosy tables and great food. Was just unlucky on the night we were there that the system got a glitch and didn't put our order through, so we waited a while. The server was kind enough to refill our drinks for free as way of an apology. Would still use as a regular eatery.

Simple food done really nicely. Comfortable clean room. Friendly staff.

Only had one night stay with breakfast on quick business trip, so cannot comment on dinner food. If I had had it and enjoyed at the price I would be giving five stars. The place was spotlessly clean and all staff friendly and helpful. Would stay again at a drop of a hat. I have also stayed at the Innkeepers in Middlemore. But I would prefer to stay here again. Not that there is anything wrong with the Innkeepers in Middlemore. I doubt there are better accommodation at the price. If there are I haven't found them.

Warm and friendly welcome. All the staff were very accommodating, nothing was a problem. Excellent food, especially the breakfast. Would definitely recommend, ideally situated for Exeter and Exmouth. Will definitely be returning.

I don’t think I will be ordering the roast again, the potatoes were hard and didn’t taste freshly cooked, the sirloin of beef tasted as if it had been sat in gravy, the carrots and honey roast parsnips again tasted as if they were from a frozen bag! Overall the roast was warm and hard.Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals on my table so may have to order something else next time

Very pleasant pub and accommodation. We found the beds comfy and room very spacious and clean. The food was excellent but a tad pricey. Would definitely go there again.

We have tried the George before and we were not overly impressed but thought try it again as it's close to we're we live, little disappointed the place is very nice ..typical beamed country pub feel, nice big outside area, the main restaurant area was closed so the seating area was a little cramped but that's fine. We had Calamari Aioli to start, never had it in a floret style before ! batter was soggy and it was basically just 6 squid nuggets in a bed of iceberg lettuce, I tried the fishcakes with poached eggs which were presented quite well they were nice but lacked any real flavour my wife had chicken and ham pie which to me was obviously bought in, huge puff pastry lid with a less then generous filling, the food lacked any real flavour/ seasoning and to be honest a bit underwhelming.

this is a great pub, part of the vintage inn chain,, there is a large selection of menu options to choose from, and incredibly friendly staff :) i would definitely recommend !

Tried this place couple days ago as it's not too far from where I live and was pleasantly surprised to find such a cosy pub, fresh food and a very nice outdoor garden. The salmon was very delicious, loved the pesto salsa. It's also very handy we can order using the app, everything was very yummy, in a chilled, relaxed atmosphere!
