We had an amazing experience. Definitely will come back if we are in Exeter again! I recommend the restaurant in the hotel. The good was exquisite!!

What a good find. Not the cheapest but lovely quality. The staff were all very helpful and lovely people. The food in the restaurant was excellent all helped by using top quality food. Well done.

Lovely building in an old eye infirmary. It's a good location on the outskirt of the centre with the quayside close. The parking is a little expensive at 15 a night. It is loud on the front of the hotel however so I would recommend ear plugs. Sustainable practices like opting out of fresh towels rewarded with a drink but bottled water should be removed as it goes against this.

Invited friends for Valentines dinner we chose not to have set menu. And everything we ordered was superb. Even listening to one persons dietary requests and getting it spot on. Also breakfast had a great selection of hot food. We had a deluxe room did smell still of paint but opened windows and it soon went away. I think with the improvements that are being made it will truly be a special hotel. The staff all of them were always helpful and polite and made our two night stay even more special.

Bit of a mixed bag. The original room I was in (206) was tiny, had an overpowering smell of paint and I could hear the people in the next room. For the price, it was completely unacceptable. However, in fairness, the night staff found me another room, which was much better, and the bar and restaurant staff were great too.

This was a strange DuVin. It’s a lovely hotel and used to be an eye hospital and then the Magdalen Chapter Hotel. What made it strange I suppose was the latter - with Du Vin you’re used to a certain setup - rooms named after wines, big bathtubs etc. The rooms in this place are more uniform and don’t have that quirkiness. Still very good standard though.Hotel amenities themselves are excellent - lovely outdoor pool, bar and expansive restaurant with views of a lovely garden.Really close to a street of shops and restaurants which I believe has previously been voted as one of Britain’s best independent streets - worth a visit.

snobby staff only attentive if you are wealthy and want to pay for extras. was belittled at check in because I'd paid via Expedia. booked a table for dinner yet as it was only 2 guests at that time we were contacted to see if we wanted to cancel, felt totally embarrassed and cancelled. the room was lovely however the towel rail in bathroom gets so hot it burns with the slightest touch (when getting a towel from it) no big warning on it that it would cause painful burns_i found out the hard way. would never stay again.

How come hotel reception doesn't inform guest that boiler is broken and there is no hot water?we have checked in no explanation at the reception before we go to our room.we drove 11 hours from Scotland and end spending evening with no shower. freezing cold water. unreal. we have asked to transfer to another hotel du vin, our request was refused by hotel management. the night we had to chill and relax, we sit and search for another place to stay. Management has long way to go. dishonest business. shame while hospitality going through hell times, they suppose to grab customer with love and attention but we had to check out and drive away from Exeter. Shame.

Wonderful building, with lots of ambiance and a lovely garden & pool area- it definitely lives up to the photos from the website. The baths and showers in the rooms are particularly nice compared to other hotels of the same price range. However, the breakfast is not good. There is little to chose from really abs for what you get it is very expensive. I am Vegetarian, and I realise this is a supposedly french hotel/restaurant, but when I asked if the chef could do a hot vegetarian breakfast with whatever was available in the kitchen, I was told it was not possible. I asked if they could do cheese on toast maybe with some avocado and tomato, but was told if it’s not in the menu it’s not possible.... why the qualified chef could not try and make something I don’t know. We often come to Exeter and always stay here. The costumer service is good and it is always a nice stay, but now we go out for breakfast instead. There are a few lovely places near the cathedral on the green. I would advice advice paying only for the room and eating out.

Had such a wonderful overnight stay, very welcoming. The pool was lovely, has a nice afternoon dip and an early morning 7am dip. Room was very comfortable, had everything you could need, thank you for the upgrade, what a nice surprise. Breakfast was ample and very tasty. Service was excellent, feeling most chilled, which is just what we needed. Hope to visit again soon 😊
