Fantastic Sunday Lunch with very generous portions and a wide selection of Vegetables including cauliflower cheese, just oozing with bubbling melted Cheese. Quick service with lots of staff working all who were super friendly and happy to chat. Definitely need to book as we arrived at 1.00 for our booked table and restaurant almost full. We had a cheese platter and it was very generous with lots of biscuits and wax wrapped artisan cheeses.Very clean and tidy with a great range of well kept ales.

Love the Wednesday evening roast! Great pub with a roaring fire. Super friendly and polite staff. Wayne & Chrissie have an amazing team. The food choices on the menu are varied and give plenty of choice. The bar is well stocked with lots of choice with real ale too. Great Country pub which has become the best venue in Newent for friends and family to visit. They also host private events like parties, wedding receptions and funerals. Entertainment events and live music. Could it be better... Probably not... Who knows Wayne is always striving to come up with new ideas to please his customers

Had a wonderful lunch here with my siblings. Food is gorgeous and all home cooked. The bread and butter pudding and custard was a delight. Also amazing value. Staff were super friendly and so helpful We will be back again and again π

Met my Dad in Newent & was looking for somewhere to have lunch. A lovely lady I asked, about eateries on a Monday, recommended this place & when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. There was a real fire going in the hearth & Sam, our waitress, was very helpful & couldn't have done any more to make our lunchtime experience better. The meals we had were good size portions and very tasty.Highly recommend π

Visited here for the Sunday lunch as reviews suggested it was the best option around. However we were very unimpressed with the food. The roast looked and tasted like it was all from frozen bags that had been reheated. The Yorkshire puddings were especially bad and were definitely not made fresh. I would not recommend and wish we'd found somewhere better to go. On the plus side the staff were friendly.

Was staying in the area overnight to visit Hartpury University. Called in to eat as recommended by the hostess of our B&B. From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Staff were helpful and even gave us advice on the area and University. As for the food. You will definitely not leave hungry. The portion sizes were amazing and taste was fantastic. Will definitely be back when visiting my daughter once she starts uni

Portions are big.. Mum had the vegetarian lasagna, whilst I had the BBQ ribs. Quick service - staff were very courteous and pleasant. Service was quick. Pint was excellent. Good parking. Sensible to book ahead and reserve a table. Good atmosphere.

We found this fantastic pub by chance after visiting a nearby garden centre, well done Google maps. I would highly recommend a visit.Lovely, friendly staff and service was a great start, then our food arrived...absolutely lush. It came quickly, was piping hot and delicious. The steak and kidney pudding was so good, it would make your grandmother weep with envy, excellent real gravy, the cheesy mash was fantastic, peas that were vivid green and sweet as they should be. Perfect! The chicken with Stilton and mushrooms was superb as was the hunter's chicken. Great crispy chips. Not one of us managed to clean our plates unfortunately. We were just too full. All in all, great place, great staff, great food, very reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely SUPERB Sunday lunch! Recommend by our local accommodation hosts and did not disappoint. Phoned to book on the Friday and glad we did as it was busy (and looks like tables get taken quick!) but service was excellent and food was *SO* good. Both the beef and the turkey and everything else was very tasty, staff friendly & attentive - all in all a great place to spend a few hours on a Sunday. Would visit again!
