Have been here a few times now while on holiday with family, and it is one of the best places I have ever eaten. The staff are really friendly, and my young daughter loved being called the boss! Our server was amazing. The food however is even better. I could've eaten the duck rillette starter all night. It was indescribably delicious, and I urge everyone to order it if they can. The scampi was crispy and juicy, and the tartar sauce was out of this world. I had the bread and butter pudding to finish, and was very happy I chose it. Just like grandma used to make! Plus they have a really good selection of ales, which is always a winner for me. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Sunday lunch for 14! Lovely venue. Staff were friendly and attentive. Good menu selection only let down by the limited amount of vegetables. Although there was 6 different veg there wasn't a lot to go round. No extra gravy either. If they sort that out I'll give them 5 stars next time!

We didn't have a bad time and the food was edible. The food just wasn't good. The pie was not at all good and I genuinely would rather have had a Greggs steak bake. And that would have been a tenth of the price. My partner ordered scampy and chips, the scampy seemed like it was frozen food warmed up too long. She also would have preferred a Greggs steak bake. Other comments have said that it seems that the food is a warm-up job which is fine if that is what you are paying for, however, at £16.95 for a bang average pie. Could have fed an entire family at Greggs for that price. I wouldn't eat here again. The service was ok, waiter wasn't friendly but neither unfriendly. OK seems to sum up our evening. There was a fun photo in the gents though.

Honest review after a visit tonight. First the good points: the staff were attentive; restaurant was clean and menu catered for most. Now the bad: bbq ribs weren’t bbq flavour, but an over powering hoisin sauce flavour instead (meat was tender though), but due to the family not liking hoisin sauce 2 meals were wasted. The roasted red pepper lasagne was an ok red pepper lasagne (the red peppers still had skin on so hadn’t been roasted). Pudding was a lemon meringue pie and a bake well tart, The lemon meringue was still frozen in the middle, the Bakewell tart base was solid and the cream had gone off.The pub has so much potential but the menu should be honest and the chefs/staff should try the food before it goes on sale to customers.

Service was superb, lovely traditional pub feel and decor... Food however was just OK, nothing to rave about. Other than the fried to order chips and fresh salad. The rest of the food is a warm up job. Which would normally be expected had the price been reflective of that.. i.e. £7.95 a meal, rather than £12-£15 charged here..

Recommended by a friend, who used to visit here years ago.Excellent recommendation.Off the beacon track, thought we were on our way into a farm, not sign posted until you literally turn into the car park, but the postcode in the SatNav took us straight there.Arrived at night, oldie worldie looking, both inside and out, very quaint.Staff were pleasant and polite and considering there were only 2 visible waitresses very efficient. The food was very tasty, and the pork was perfectly cooked.1/2 pint of prawns were stuffed full, excellent value for money. All 4 of us had a lovely meal and experience.A must if you're in the Forest of Dean area.Book ahead.

We were staying at the Forest Holidays retreat in Forest of Dean and found this place on Google just a 2 minute drive from the retreat.Upon first arrival we drove down a narrow country lane and initially thought we had gotten lost and there it was right on the corner before the farm. The pub felt like coming home to your grandparents and Lynn was very welcoming upon arrival, The pub decor was Old England complete with solid beams and nicely decorated to suit with twinkly lights and a welcoming warm atmosphere. We were promptly seated and given enough time to choose from the menu, without it feeling too long or staff ontop of you.We went for the steak and chips followed by apple crumble, whilst our little one had chicken korma. The food was delicious and hands down the best meal we have eaten out in a while! The portion size was generous and they even made sure we were happy with little ones meal (spoon, plate, bowl etc) before leaving us.Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff should be proud of what they do to make this the best pub around!Thank you so much for making my Birthday extra special, even though you were just doing what you do every day!We definitely reccomend and will be visiting again!

Nice atmosphere - classic English pub. The food is great value for money. The Guinness was particularly good

Really tasty food and decent portion sizes for the price. Serving staff were lovely too. Just gutted we didn't have space for pudding!

Fast, friendly service, good portions and prices! Would recommend if you're wanting a spacious, traditional pub with a generous outside seating area!
