A bit of a tardis, much larger inside, lots of dining areas, large car park and loads of outside seating. Staff friendly, lots of food being served which looked great, I didn't eat there but would very much like to next time. Visited on a Tuesday evening, a very nice experience.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, the room was very comfortable and clean. We had a very good breakfast and the evening food is also of a high standard

I am staying in the hotel for three nights, B&B. Tonight is my last night. The room is great. The bed is huge and very comfy. The shower is awesome.Breakfast is very good, and I have also had dinner here. That has also been excellent.

Hired the upstairs function room for a party the day after our wedding and they were excellent all round and we all had the most wonderful time! They even cleaned up confetti from the table cloths in the morning and as they did not have an event the next day we were not rushed at all in clearing our stuff out. Thank you so much!

We decided to stay at The Royal George within Birdlip, due to visiting a member of the family within the area. All members of staff we came across were accommodating & the building from the outside looks lovely.Unfortunately our stay was let down by a few things; For the kitchen, During our evening we had muscles for starters, which should come in a creamy sauce, but this more like soup. Next for mains we had the Lamb Shoulder, this was let down by a big lump of fat, & the other meal we was the Surf & Turf, the steak was supposed to be medium rare, but turned our medium well, the sauce was completely forgot & by this point half of the meal was eaten. In the morning the breakfast was again let down, the pancakes were flat & floppy. We also chose the Egg’s Royal, the Hollandaise Sauce was running with lumpy bits in, & the Salmon turned my stomach when I found it to be white & not looking it’s best. The Room; Generally nice but a couple of things either not working or broken. The lamp by the bedside not working at all, & the shower leaking water because the flexible pipping was too tight. The four poster bed was the best feature in room, being solid wood, however if your over 6ft your not going to fit.To finish, attention to detail in areas, & the standard of kitchen food lets the hotel down, other than this a nice stay.

We've always enjoyed popping in to the Royal George at Birdlip, a small village just off the A417 to the east of Gloucester. Over the years like most hotels it's changed brands & owners regularly. We visited several times during 2021 and chose it as the venue to take some nice family photos before our son flew off to pastures new in August. We enjoyed sitting in the garden soaking up the afternoon sun.We visited again just before Christmas, for a small family get-together in the bar, whilst having a meal and drinks. The bar offered a standard bar menu as well as a Christmas Specials menu so our meals varied from the Christmas turkey, the Christmas pie, a rump steak and several vegetarian meals; so we were all well catered for. I had the Christmas pie and wondered whether it had been re-heated as the pastry felt a little hard and chewie. But the service was good and our meals, barr one, all arrived at the same time. We ordered at the bar, where there'd a good selection of beers, lagers and ales as well as wines and gins. Service again was very good.Dogs are allowed in the bar, as long as they're well behaved. All in all a nice couple of hours spent with the family.

Very good quality sunday roast here. It made a nice change from a carvery to have cooked to order and fresh ingredients. We were impressed.

·

What a gem!Lovely staff, gorgeous pub, good choice for breakfast. However, rooms are in desperate need for refurbishment and modernisation.

Looking a little tired could do with a refurb but very clean. Staff excellent and always happy to help. The menu is good and the quality of food is great. We are staying 4 nights and so far so great.
