Barnacle Bill's Traditional Fish & Chips in Mendip

Easily the best Fish & Chips I've tried in Frome so far. It's up there with some of the best I've tried - and I've lived all over England's coast. Batter was light and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside & tasted great. Cod was chunky and not watery at all. Chips were really nice as well - chunky, slightly crispy and not soggy. Packgaing was nice too. This place may get overlooked as its in the town near the resturants &pubs - but it is well worth making a few minutes extra journey to try it (I was actually going to Codswallop but it was very busy so decided to try this - I am very glad I did).

Over 40 minutes (from order to being served) for 2 bags of chips isn't too great to be fair. Zero concept of kitchen management. Just glad the chips were OK when we finally got them

Fish was good, chips were good, but we got the smallest amount of chips - not much more than the kids portion! However, the kids burger was awful, terrible quality and the bun was wet.

I bought cod and chips to take away. The portions were generous and cooked to order. Delicious!

Friendly staff and the food is great. Plenty of gluten free options which is fantastic. Although we live an hour away we still come back time and again whenever we are passing.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Chips were crisp on the outside and soft and flavoursome on the inside. Fish batter was lovely and crisp and the fish was fresh, flavoursome and tender. Curry sauce was great. They also do very good vegan options so wife was very happy too.
