Bistro Lotte in Mendip

Took a chance on this place on our first visit to Frome. Good atmosphere and good lunch menu. Service was quick and food of a high quality but overseasoned for us- we had different meals and both were too salty.

Mixed results but overall underwhelming. I thought the butter was margarine my wife thought it just cheap butter. The rouille seemed to be mash potato & rather than a toasted crouton it was served with a slab of rather ordinary bread. Snails were barely recognisable & the smallest I've ever seen. The base & the fish of the bouillabaisse was good. We passed on pud & didn't breakfast with Lotte to avoid further disappointment. Service was charming I just think the kitchen was taking shortcuts & not sourcing the best ingredients.

Dined here last Monday and it was so fabulous that we had to book again for the Wednesday. The food is so fresh, beautifully presented and utterly delicious. Without a doubt a new favourite. Service was great and so friendly. Highly recommend the twice baked crab souffle, steak frites and moules frites, king prawn and chirizo. The strawberry mousse and cheeseboard for dessert was divine.

Beautiful food, beautiful drinks, so happy to have spent a lovely evening with our son and his French partner in such an authentic and flavoursome place. Only criticism is lack of bread to join the water on the table. We shall be back... thats a promise not a threat!!!! A good one of course!!!!

Lovely French bistro style restaurant. Tasty food and good wines. Friendly service. Probably best to book as deservedly popular.

Just a wonderful meal. Escargots with heaps of garlic and butter! Followed by a delicious skate with artichokes and capers! Service top notch. Ambiance even better! We'll be back on Saturday.

My wife suggested we go in for the Croque Monsieur or Madame, after googling I wasn't massively enfranchised at the idea of a "toasted sandwich" but decided to go along with it. Obviously added an egg to the mix because, why not?It arrived, beautifully presented and I have to say I truly ate my words. It wasn't a toasted sandwich but an exercise in perfection.Great service, a great latte and a little cafe doggo that greeted you and desired a fuss.I will be visiting again the next time I'm in the area.

We took some French friends for dinner when they were visiting us - and they loved it.The service was brilliant, the food was all excellent and the house wine was fine. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and I'm sure we will be visiting again

Exceptional service. Great food and great value too. The best in Frome by a country mile. Their sister bar next door is excellent too!

We liked this a Lotte! Great food, the beef bourguignon and the cheese soufflé were standout dishes for us, and good sized portions. Staff were friendly and a clear local favourite given how busy it was. Give it a visit!
