Golden House in Mendip

The food was disgusting I ordered curry rice and spring rolls the curry was so runny that it had spilled out over everything when I got home. The spring rolls weren't spring rolls they had weird veg in and tasted horrible as did the curry the only bit that tasted good was the rice and prawn crackers. Its a shame as it was always a good place.

Have upgraded my 2 star rating after the meal we had last week. Back on form Golden House! It was lovely and I can't wait to eat there again.Have to say tonight I'm disappointed. This place has changed hands recently. The chow mein doesn't have that lovely tasty sauce through it any more, it's the same as any generic chow mein you can get anywhere. And the batter on the sweet and sour chicken was super thick and greasy. Such a shame. I'll be trying it one more time in case it's not been as good due to a busy Saturday night, but if it's the same I won't be going again. My family and I have been a regulars for over 30 years, this is our go to Chinese. Hoping it's a one off 🤞

Friendly man behind the counter. Very nice tasty food worth a trip. We are staying in the area and found this on trip advisor would recommend if your looking for a nice Chinese

Definitely worth the drive from Wells. The staff were very friendly and polite on the phone and in the restaurant. The food tasted excellent and wasn’t all dyed lurid colours like some Chinese takeaways. The food was also not too greasy which I appreciate a lot. Would highly recommend their Vegetable Chow Mein!

Best Chinese food for miles around. We travel to collect our take away from them as a result. It's worth the drive as we have never been disappointed. Order over the phone and collect from the small take away counter attached to the restaurant. Always ready on time.

Chips and chicken balls were amazing, and the guy in there was the cheeriest man I think I've ever met haha. Very lovely. The salt and pepper chicken was a bit dry, I think it would be far better with chicken pieces rather than the shredded bits.
