Where is The George Inn?

🏠 Long St, Croscombe, Wells BA5 3QH

"The George Inn is an award-winning traditional village pub at the heart of Croscombe, halfway between Wells and Shepton Mallet. We serve excellent fresh homemade food with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, using seasonal produce from our garden, fresh fish from Devon and fresh local game and meats. We keep local real ales and ciders, a short wine list and an interesting selection of specialty gins and malt whiskies. We have three en-suite rooms bookable online on our website, but it is easiest to call us. We’re very dog- and family-friendly, wheelchair accessible and wish you a very warm welcome!"

Highly rated local, which just about sets the standard for what a community pub should be. Good menu, great ale (Try the George, fellow CAMRAers) but what always gets the Blue Ribbon is the friendly staff. The landlord is a gent with a real interest in his pub, community and customers. Highly rated and wish it was my local.

First time there sadly for a funeral. However the welcome was friendly, staff attentive and the buffet varied and very good. The pub had a nice feel about it and interesting in character. I cannot comment on the beer as I wasn't drinking.

Lovely pub but food was very overpriced and far too much choice to make a quality menu possible. My sons are chefs so I hope you accept I'm not unreasonable. We Suggest you offer 5-6 main dishes at most. Cut out the frozen chips and veg and concentrate on fresh local ingredients. The rice was particularly nasty. not enough sauce on the chilli fish and it came from a bottle. For £15 people expect a lot more. For £6 at a supermarket cafe it would have been great. ❤️

Such a great environment and what a lovely pub. The staff was extremely friendly and was amazing, the rooms are lovely, cosy, comfortable and clean. The food was excellent! So delicious and very good portions. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to stay or go for a good pub lunch.

Lovely country pub. Food is excellent & seems to be very popular for Sunday lunch. Very dog friendly and even if you didn't bring a dog, the owners lovely lab will find you!Beware that when it's busy, parking is a bit of an issue!

Lovely pub in a small village near Wells. The room had an en suite, hospitality tray, towels, soap, hairdrier, TV etc. The breakfast choice included a full English included which made the room cost very reasonable. Lots of choices on the menu for an evening meal, a very enjoyable stay.

I can honestly say this is one of THE BEST pubs I’ve ever been in for; atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food and welcoming dogs!Everything about our visit was fantastic! The staff - they are all genuinely lovely and take time to chat with you! They put the effort into customer service and go above and beyond for you.The food - what can I say!!!! AMAZING, everything is locally sourced and homemade! The Pub - A lovely, well kept, welcoming place, brilliant atmosphere, chatty friendly locals and very dog friendly.I can’t recommend this place enough, so much so we are going back next year and instead of an Airbnb we are going to stay in one of the rooms. If you miss this pub you are missing out!
