The King Alfred in Mendip

Had my daughter's wedding venue here 15 07 22 very professional from start to finish took care of everything can't thank Charlie and Nita enough food was great friendly lovely people will definitely be goeing back for a yummy roast dinner .mark

This place is wrongfully rated for cleanliness, it should be -4. We stayed there last night and we were provided a room with blood stains on the carpet, the carpet was NOT vacuumed, the restroom floor was very dirty, the bed sheet had hairs, the shower plugs up, and to top it off, we were charged an additional 5 pounds for towels, what hotel does that??!! We traveled England for 10 days and stayed at different locations and this is the 1st hotel that has not met our expectations as far as cleanliness is concerned…. Extremely disappointed!

Food was good for the price and simple but just what we needed from a local pub. Staff were very attentive. Glasses and cutlery mostly clean. Clean tables and seating, nice decor. Loos were lovely!

This is not the first time I’ve eaten here, food is hot and cooked to order so there’s always a little wait but we’ll worth it for fresh and hot food, the attention from the staff is high, a good variety of specials and local ciders well worth a visit.

4.5 Stars! Lovely, quiet relaxing roast with the young family. The bar tender was very attentive and accommodating for our children and there were lovely high chairs and activities for the 4yr old too. Portable baby changing table available behind the bar and the roast was nice too - just the right size.

Mr Mrs lotfy 5 th of May 2022 we just had two days stay it was lovely room nice comfortable bed and worm room and clean thanks to Anita and Charlie very friendly and welcoming us I recommend it to any one and its 5 minutes walk to the town 😀

Fantastic hosts, and wonderful food. Warm and welcoming, Charlie and Nita make The King Alfred a pleasure to visit and nothing is too much trouble. All food is cooked to order, so you may have to wait, but it is worth it. We highly recommend the pizza!

A friendly, warm and traditional pub, with a cosy atmosphere.

It was OK Sunday lunch was nice and hot and front of house staff was friendly but because of staff shortages and being busy when asking for another drink they put them on the bar and asked if we could fetch them .we booked our meal of 5 people and would recommend doing that as quite a small but pleasant pub .

An excellent local pub with very good quality food we had the fish and chips which was very tasty and a very good portion and also a great selection of beers, including craft beers. Also available are some good quality ciders. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is also accommodation which is very comfy just behind the pub. A visit will not disappoint you.
