Pub looks so inviting from the outside. This was matched from the welcome we received and service provided. The general decor in the communal areas and around the bar made for an ideal stopover.Excellent guest ales; well kept and presented. A place to relax and chill.Only sorry didn’t have time to eat but a great reason to return some day soon.

Lovely pub, good parking, well placed tables with outside seating too. Went for the Sunday carvery, food was good, and well presented, nice selection of cocktails. If you are there just for a drink they have a lovely airy seating area with comfy Chesterfields

Nice double room, not huge but we'll proportioned for an old building. Ensuite had a d bath. Good quality soaps and shampoos ( my wife was impressed). Staff polite and helpful.Breakfast was amazing. Delicious food, beautifully presented. To be honest, it's worth staying just for that.Family members also staying (big family event nearby) had dietary requirements that were met with no fuss and left all involved feeling welcome.

Had a wonderful meal here. The pub is cosy and welcoming while the food speaks of a chef who really knows what he’s doing. The dishes are all expertly constructed, offering clever combinations of flavours and textures that come together in perfect harmony. Little dots of gels and swirls of sauce are all packed with flavour which all contribute to the finished article. Everything on the plate is clearly there for a reason. There’s no pointless garnish and every element has a part to play. It’s inventive without being overwhelming and exciting without being pretentious. I can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning.

It is some time since I last commented on The Lion though have eaten there in between. Lunch yesterday was a chance to try the new menu. I started with plain Asparagus followed by Sea Trout with new pots and fresh broccoli and finished with dark chocolate delice ,cherry gel and honeycombed, To drink a bottle of Mowbarton Somerset sparkling wine. The food was well prepared and served, plates hot , not 0over filled just enough . The full menu was very interesting and made me want to return . My Asparagus w3as firm and had a good taste , the Sea Trout excellent and anything with Chocolate well what does one say. My two nieces had other things from the menus, we all tasted one anothers and found them most enjoyable. The Lion is a real English pub that is starting to get a name for good food, well worth a visit.

Whoa. What a transformation since my last visit. The pub has been so tastefully changed,, enhancing the original stone and wood.An excellent menu awaits, with wine or ale, one local to enjoy. A good kitchen. Accommodation available.Very friendly staff.

We visited on Saturday with friends. Was a beautiful place with a lovely friendly atmosphere. The waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable concerning the gluten free options our friend requested. The food was absolutely gorgeousWe particularly liked the fact we were not pestered all evening but left to eat drink and enjoy ourselves. Not rushed or felt time was up but were able to relaxWhich we did. Oh Briar is gorgeous to.
