The Pheasant Inn & Restaurant in Mendip
Where is The Pheasant Inn & Restaurant?
π Wells Rd, Wookey, Wells BA5 1LQ
"Situated in the rural village of Wookey near Wells in Somerset, The Pheasant Inn is a traditional country pub with stunning views of the Mendip Hills. A family and dog-friendly 'local' pub offering good homecooked food (locally sourced where possible) which caters for vegetarians, vegans and those with gluten intolerances, alongside a traditional menu with a range of food from steaks to sandwiches (view our menu). Two real ale hand pulls, a great selection of lagers and an extensive range of ciders from local brewers Thatchers, along with a well-stocked Gin bar ensures there is something for everyone at The Pheasant Inn. We boast a spacious separate dining area, a cosy bar with wood burning stove as well as a large fully enclosed garden."

Great welcome from the host, lovely timely service from the team, great pub food menu and Timmy Taylor's on draught. The cosiest fire and lounge with a lovely chilled vibe of conversational hum. Just a perfect Thursday evening impromptu outing. Loved it. Keep.doing what you're doing

The food was absolutely incredible, I can't stop thinking about it! Great value too! Staff super attentive, nothing too much of an ask, even allowed us to use the carpark as a place to kip for the night in our van. Catch it on the right night and you'll be treated to some great local live music! Thanks so much to the team at the Pheasant - we will be back π

Lovely little pub. They have Thatchers Rascal which is a bonus. Open at lunch time which is a double bonus. Definitely worth a visit. Landlord is very friendly.

Really great food! Service was outstanding from the landlord. Another lady (possibly the landlady) was very kind to my children with their desserts and very friendly.

Great little place with fabulous food, we we're made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and also asked to a wear a face mask at the bar when ordering drinks which we respected. It was very busy so I would recommend phoning ahead to reserve a table, the staff are extremely professional and very friendly.

Good service, attentive enough without being intrusive. Succulent ploughman's platter for 2 enjoyed by me and my better half washed down with an ale and g & t. Sat out in their gorgeous beer garden.Top notch, would recommend to families and pet owners alike π

Strange experience. Pub has a lovely country feel it, nicely decorated to the pheasant theme with a great tweed carpet. Menu is very basic and doesn't explain what you get, for example, sausage with egg chips and peas. Food was basic home food at a cheap price cooked nicely, pie was lovely. Staff were friendly however didn't know the menu when we had questions. Didn't stay for pudding. Good for a quick pit stop if your hungry, wouldn't go here for a dinner date though.

This is an example of a local pub that has simply got everything right about opening post-Covid19. Extra outdoor tables, solid precautionary measures and a great positive attitude and investment from guys who know they have to make this work. Couple that with likeability of staff and great food, good portions and reasonable prices, I'm real happy. One of the high points in a holiday full of them. Thanks all for making our stay in the area better that I thought it could be.
