Have wandered past every year on our way to the Tor for the Solstice but never managed to pop in,did this year and do glad we did. Lovely bar with lots of character and friendly staff and the view from the courtyard garden is worth a visit alone.

Lovely place. Staff so kind.

Beer was ok, outside area too smoky to enjoy, the bar woman gave off a distinctly unfriendly and standoffish vibe that made us feel that we were somehow imposing by ordering a drink.Edit: We visited at 8pm, 1st June

We arrived at 1.00 pm for lunch, but they didn’t have any food. We had our young dog with us, that jumped to say hi to a member of the staff - her answer was “your dog needs training”. We left.

Awesome easter sunday at the Riflemans. Super entertainment, great food even stuff for the kids to do, face painting, craft area and such like. I truly had an awesome day. Such a great family pub. Cant fault it.

Sheltered here from rain! Nice veggie food. Cute old bits of the pub, newer extension at back. I was pleasantly surprised! Friendly staff

Other pubs need to step it up.Walk in, a welcome greetingSit downTable service that politely asks if I would like another drink when my glass is about to be empty.Accommodating with a fresh environment, nice country pub vibe. They’ve got the covid situation under control as well.I’m really pleased as a local what the owners are doing. Food looks good too!

Very nice pub, cool staffs and great service, food was delicious, must try their burger, and reasonable price, old style and interesting decor stuffs there. Large parking space, clean restroom.

Recently on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, I arranged to meet friends here for lunch. The accreditation was justified, the Tribute was in excellent condition, although the Butcombe had lost its zest. The lunch that Louis provided was also excellent. The building is somewhat unprepossessing from the outside and the narrow car park entrance needs careful negotiation, but once inside, a lovely Olde Worlde English pub expands out like a Tardis.

Beautiful outdoor seating. Great local pub at foot of the Tor. Good beer selection. Availability of food depends on certain days of week.Live music on weekends.
