The River House in Mendip

Very welcoming and attentive staff. Lots of choices for both food and beverages. Very impressive range of delicious gluten & dairy free cakes. We shared 7 different cakes and thoroughly enjoyed them. Similarly a good range of drinks, the milkshakes went down a treat and a generous amount of tea and milk for 3 cups from the one pot. Excellent value for money. Lovely atmosphere and great background music that allowed conversation without any need to raise your voice. The meal choices looked very tempting and we would all consider coming back here for a meal.

How was it? Very nice indeed! Lively menu and tasty drinks. Reasonable prices. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cosy indoors, sheltered outside. Dogs and kids welcome. Staff friendly and efficient . Toilets available. Disabled friendly with car spaces nearby and accessible loo.

Lovely Bacon bap and a cuppa. Service was fab and very quick. All were friendly and helpful. Pleasant atmosphere and clean.

Delicious lunch. Food successfully navigates the delicate balance between familiar comforts and exciting new flavours, successfully incorporating both traditional and vegan options into a well rounded menu.

Really good coffee and delicious cake. There were gluten free and vegan options available. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

5 stars for the millionaires shortbread. Homemade? So rich, buttery goodness. 5 stars for the service and community feel. 2 stars for the hot chocolate. Felt like they only used half the amount of chocolate. Also could have been a bit hotter.

Shame I can’t give more than five stars. Outstanding. Coffee is so tasty and food so much lovely flavour. Plus great service. Went back 3 times in 1 week

A family group of us visited today for a late breakfast/early lunch. Although we were a fairly big group, the staff made us welcome, quickly cleaned and made up a table for the group. We mostly ordered the large breakfasts some being the vegan option and various hot drinks. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We felt the staff genuinely enjoy their work there and that showed in their great attitude. We were not hurried nor hassled and left there feeling well set up for a lovely walk around the beautiful town. Would definitely visit again if we return to that part of the country. Well done River House, you do Frome proud!

We went here a few weeks ago and were very impressed. The River House serves a good breakfast; very well presented wholesome food. I liked how they'd bolster well known breakfast items with a little something extra like some beetroot hummus. They serve good coffee here too.I think if I was a local I would be here quite often. It was very busy though it was a Sunday morning. Still, they coped very well and we did not have to wait very long. I would definitely return.
