Amazing food and friendly staff. Good value for the quality. Top notch drink selection. Intimate inside and outside garden/ courtyard

Changed a lot from the last time we visited, about 20 years ago, but Mells is always worth a visit. Still beautiful.

So we arrived there around 1pm and there was a good vibe. The staff were busy, efficient, and in control.Guests were seated quickly and drinks and food were served in a very timely manner. The food was excellent, and the portion size was ideal - it was a good balance of quality and quantity.I chose a fish dish, which was Bream and the fillet was plump, tasty, and cooked carefully enough to be good and moist.I found the fregola pasta to be particularly interesting and tasty, being soft and also toasted.Bravo The Talbot Inn!P.s.The flat white to finish was lovely!

Went here for lunch today but unfortunately they weren't serving food outside. There weren't any tables inside so the only places to sit were outside. Never heard of a pub doing this before, it was really disappointing. Ended up just having a drink and going home for lunch :(.The good bits tho were the staff were friendly and sitting outside in the sun was great.

❤ If you are looking for a tradition British Pub, this would be your spot. It's a beautiful and cozy space to enjoy a cider and have a nice conversation. It's a perfect mix of modern and traditional architecture and interior design. We will surely be back!

Just trying to be what they are not. Is not a fancy, fine dinning, but they charge like they are. Food very expensive, seafood platter quite good as for the rest of the food just OK ÂŁ16 for a small, dried burger with literally tiny portion of chips. service of a box standard pub grub. Not really the staff foult as they tried just not enough training or management presence. Will be back but not in a rush.

I’ve known this pub for years but visited it recently after a long break. I am amazed that they think it’s ok to automatically add 12.5% “service charge” to bills and then call it “discretionary “. Don’t their staff already get paid ? The prices for food and drink are already pointing a little toward the high side .I would add that the staff were all lovely .

It’s a nice atmosphere, well looked after, the staff are okay, some nicer than others, as u would normally get, they don’t check if your meal is okay or need more drinks un-till your finished your food. Food was terrible for the price, chips were cold and tasted old, the burger was almost cold plus the bottom was soggy, couldn’t eat it, had such high expectations, to be a disappointment.

This is a cracking pub and restaurant, tucked out of the way in an ancient part of the world! The service is great, even when it’s rammed to capacity. There is a good selection of ales and the food is delicious.

Absolutely fantastic evening with loved ones. We were sat in one of the outbuildings for dinner and everyone said that the room was stunning. High ceilings, giant chandelier and a cozy log burner. The food was exceptional and the portions generous. We would all definitely go back and have already planned to take the inlaws. The service was excellent as well with our waitress giving us spot on menu tips. 100% if you are in the area (or even remotely nearby) make sure you visit.
