Friendly staff and very good food seems to be all fresh home cooked, would definitely recommend a visit.

Good, honest home-cooked food.My son and I visited a friend, who is a local and who comes here often. We have been here many times with him and it is always really good!

Really warm welcome from Mike and Dawn. Good beer and a nice steak and ale pie. The Bakewell tart alone is worth a return visit. There was a really pleasant and relaxed vibe in this pub. The staff chatted and joked with all the customers and the young lady behind the bar (sorry - didn't catch her name) was extremely helpful, writing down local places of interest.

Great old pub, apparently built in 1890. Good food and wonderful hospitality very reasonable prices and will definitely go again. Good selection of drinks and the Mallett cider is wonderful.

Excellent food at good prices. Good vegetarian selection. Best Bread and Butter pudding I've ever had.

We visited for dinner with our very busy and active toddler. The staff and other patrons were lovely, understanding and friendly. The food was home cooked, delicious and plentiful. Thoroughly recommended.

Always give a place a second chance. I hadn't been there for several years. Previous experience of beer soaked carpets with your shoes sticking as you walked has been transformed. It was clean and tidy with a nice fire and the toilets were spotless. The menus was file. There were six of us 2 went for the salmon and dill, one the pie which was large and had good quality content two for the fish, one was a small portion the other regular. The regular was huge. I opted for a special - liver and bacon with all the trimmings. Only 3 could manage deserts. I had the bread and butter pudding with icecream. Excellent.A few minor problems with the card machine when paying but the bill including 3 rounds of drinks and coffees for some came to Β£24 a head including a tip.I live locally and it is confusing as to opening hours and a simple A board outside would help as well as tidying up the car park. This would bring them more custom. The staff were welcoming and the service was fine.

First of all, I served the dinner here, I've met nice people, very gently who offered us a very tasty and fresh food, home made! :) Prices are more than affordable (seriously, for any pocket :)..), beer was cold, the garden was amazing, nice ambiance! I recommend them for everyone to try a Lunch or a nice dinner! :)

Such a brilliant pub! If you want good service and a lovely atmosphere then go here. We sat in the flower and herb filled garden on a glorious day! Don't be put off by the roadside location, you can't hear many cars when in the walled garden.Food was brilliant - they had homecooked roasts, but they even made us a sandwich (off menu) with some freshly baked bread they had in as we didn't fancy the roast but they wanted to feed us.Such lovely above and beyond hospitality and a brilliant find!

The food was wholesome and plentiful, the staff friendly. Decoration feels a bit dated and some odd thing with cones in the car park making the place not look open.Menu is quite limited and felt very old school in the choices, no starters at all was a blow for me. Plenty of dessert choices, my wife loved her strawberry pavlovaI wouldn't go out of my way to go there but if I was nearby and hungry I would have no qualms going back for food.
