Great food friendly staff, Shame about the wait for food, booked the table, pre ordered the food but still a fifty minute wait and 10 minutes between the first and last meal being put on the table .

Stopped off here by chance on the the way home. What a lovely traditional pub: warm welcome and excellent good value food… the home made steak and ale pie with hand-cut chips alone would be worth a detour!

Absolutely lovely little pub with a family feel. Beautiful gluten free food - perfect place for a Coeliac! Highly recommend!

Sorry but the food was awful. I ordered a mushroom stroganoff and it tasted like it was just a can of mushrooms in a cheese sauce. As more people are opting for meatless dishes this wasn’t a good experience.

Wonderful! Nice to see a pub still lovingly attended by it's owners. Great food (steak and Ale pie and Sunday roast) and nice local cask beers. Well done!

Thursday evening - possibly is not a pub's busiest night of the week. However, didn't expect the 10:00 imposed closure by the landlord, after commenting no-one had bought a drink since 8:30. Our party of 4 not only had a very good meal but also bought drinks around 9pm! Our enjoyable evening was spoiled by such unprofessional customer relations - we will not be returning.

Dishes can vary in value depending what you order. Wife had prawn salad which was good value I had steak and ale pie which was not great because it was not a real pie, with sides and bottom, but the sort you had at school 45 years ago when I went. Stew in a pan covered with pastry. The gravey it was cooked in was likely thickened with gravy granuals and a little over thick. Tasted ok but a little basic. Veg was over cooked for me but that's my taste others might like that. Portion size was good for the price. Overall value was fair. Pub is cosy, well laid out, in nice location and staff as good as you get. Hence overall experience 4 star. Eating out is expensive now so corners are being cut to keep costs down. That raises the relative quality of home cooking which is better than 80% of places now.

I visited the Waldegrave Arms on a off chance after a walk, a busy Sunday with roasts clearly being the main dish of the day. Despite this the friendliest of staff accommodated our party and made sure we were welcomed into the restaurant. The decoration has a traditional feel about it, the tables are a little tightly squeezed in but the service is prompt and there are plenty of staff on hand if required. There is a acceptable selection of drinks and the food more than exceeded my expectations, portions are of a good size and quality. All our food come across with that homemade feel and that it has been prepared just for you. If I am in the area again I will definitely visit another time.

Staff were pleasant and helpful. Place needs some updating, menus sticky. Food good value.
