Whitstone's Traditional Fish and Chips in Mendip

It's my last night in this area. I only had mussels left and wanted to add to it. With recommendations from my accommodation I decided to get a takeaway from here as it was close. It was quite busy. I can understand why. The fish I ordered was excellent. Crispy and not greasy. A good portion size of regular cod. It's the same size and maybe bigger than my locals large cod back at my home. I highly recommend this place if anyone is visiting this area. They have a restaurant as well. If I come back I will definitely return!

My work partner got chips from here I tried some as they are supposed to be award winning!!! I think the judges must have poor pallets , the chips were tough on the out side and powdery on the in side! I can't see how they have won awards! I have had much better chips else where! And for the price he paid the portion was really small, or maybe the fish was still alive and had eaten them!

Came in here last night with my husband and baby - our waitress was accommodating and got us a high chair. She also let us pick a quiet table in the corner and even gave us some baby cutlery! We were driving by so thought we would try the restaurant . Best burger & chips ever !! Definitely be back . Thank you x

What a fantastic chippie. As we entered the staff were not only disinfecting the table tops but also the chairs including the legs and backrests. The food is of an excellent quality and very large portions. The cod was cooked to perfection and the batter beautifully crispy. The hot chilli burger was the best I've had in a long time. The chips were cooked to perfection. The toilets were spotlessly clean. As for the staff, they are a lovely, friendly bunch and made us feel very welcome.(8/1/22)

Beautiful fish and chips. Really friendly and super efficient staff. Nice and spacious with clean bright decor. This was the best fish and chips we've had in a long while.

Well while since last here must admit the quality of food and service still excellent. Also for those of a certain age the pensioners special on back of menu is brilliant, fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter plus pot tea or coffee for £9.95. WOW!!

Wonderful food and service. Just had a fish and chup supper delivered and I was amazing. We're about 10 minutes drive from Shepton Mallet but wasn't in a position to collect. The food was piping hot and wrapped up so well. Will definitely order again. Thank you :)
