Can’t say I was made to feel very welcome on my first and probably last visit. The small beer garden would benefit from some gardening.

I enjoyed a steak worth the effort in an establishment that feels as if it's owned by real people. I'll be going again.

What a brilliant landlord they have against all the odds worked on courageously supplying a varied menu. They never lost Billy's number do you remember, a time like this. Anyway during the summer they turned to themselves literally inside out to help those needing food.

Superb pub, with a lovely open fire and a great welcome, the food was second to none, and care was taken of our vegan guest, would heartily recommend, and will visit again.

Thought I should let other people know about this little gem of a pub. My mother-in-law lives in an adjoining village and every time my wife and I go down to see her we always end up for a meal at The Black Dog. We have been for several meals in the evening and for the best Sunday lunch we have ever had. The pub has plenty of character, the staff are really friendly, the proprietor's are great, one of them is 'the chef', I think the beer is first rate, but it's the food that we both particularly enjoy. Sunday lunch is amazing, there is always a choice of joint, beautifully cooked and served with lots of fresh vegetables. There is also pudding and everything is served with a smile. It is great value for money. I/We would definitely recommend to others.
