A warm welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, good variety of food and drink.

The landlord was very hostile, the dog was aggressive and attacked our dog. The landlord then blamed our dog as he was ‘on a lead’. He then petted his dog and said good boy. We were horrified! The pub was empty and I’m not surprised! Would not return again.

Food was lovely, staff were very helpful and polite and Sergio the dog is beautiful

NOT DOG FRIENDLY - went to this pub with our obedient, child friendly spaniel after reading nice reviews about the food and drink at The Catherine Wheel. The dog there had a docked tail and ears, and was off the lead roaming around the pub floor. Our dog, on a lead, was approached by the dog in an aggressive manner and barked and growled at. The landlord petted the dog and said ‘good boy.’ Will not be returning, I’m not surprised the pub was empty.

DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU LIVE IN THE VILLAGENOT WELCOMING TO NEW PEOPLEWas told food would be 30 mins, didn’t get it till an hour later (even though people who came in after got their food first) then when we got the food it was wrong and after having to wait an hour and a half for the order to be done correct we requested a refund as we no longer wanted to the food as we ordered it an hour and a half ago. The women behind the bar then raised her voice demanding I wouldn’t get a refund because she had to fix the order (an order that they got wrong in the first place) came to devon for nice weekend with my partner but it was ruined by the staff at this pub who treated me and my partner like outsiders being rude from the get go. They even had the audacity to offer us a £2 refund after the total order came to £43. A waste of money, should’ve gone McDonald’s

What a little gem, spoilt for choice with the food. Amazing sandwiches and nice chips. Sergio the dog is the most gentle dog around ignore the other reviews about people fearng for their lives. He's a pup. Give it a go you won't be disappointed. By the way we are not locals to the area and we were made very welcome.

Nice friendly pub which did a great Sunday roast. Stopped here by chance and glad we did

Not the happiest pub in the county. Also I love dogs but was very weary of the large, cropped eared dog roaming around.

A proper village pub, very welcoming, and a most enjoyable couple of pints after a stroll. Thoroughly recommended.

People be aware! I walked in, and the landlord struggled to get his aggressive dog under control, he saw it as a joke, but I genuinely felt threatened that I was about to be bitten. Then I was treated to sarcastic and rude comments. Wouldn't recommend, avoid at all costs.
