Old Well Garden Centre in Mid Devon

Great garden centre. Good selection of plants at very reasonable prices. Plenty of other products as well. I live in the West Midlands but I always pay a visit here when I visit my family in Taunton.

Restaurant staff are really friendly and helpful. Lots of choice of good food. Generous portions. Plant area is well stocked and knowledgeable staff available for advice. Coffee shop is great if you have dogs with you too.

We've bought many plants and gardening tools and sundries from this centre over the past few years. Visited on Saturday (7th May, 2022) with my parents who lived nearby, and as it was such a nice day, we popped into their cafe for a drink and piece of cake. Very nice!We noticed that the centre itself has grown significantly since our last visit, not only extending it's indoor retail space but the outdoor range too. Pots and planters, garden ornaments and decor, huge selection of trees... the list continues. Can't wait to see how the expansion progresses.The Old Well is still independent, as far as we can understand, which makes a change when so many others are part of a chain.

PLENTY of plants, massive site development including sundries, restaurants, play area, furniture, you name it they've got it. GREAT selection of flora and forner, too much for my miserly pockets, but I just can't help myself, spend spend spend. So... It's nice to have the choice & variety. Staff are helpful, informative & friendly All in all...... AWESOME

A great local garden centre, good choice of products.For me the downside was the lack of helpful staff.I was looking for tumbling tomatoes,on a Saturday visit.Asked a member of staff,that advised that Wednesday was the best day as new delivery would be received.Wednesday morning I returned,I asked a member of staff the location of the small green plant that I was looking for,tumbling tomatoes.The answer I received was "over there".Sadly this really wasn't the helpful engaging answer I was expecting 😕

Coffee shop with seating inside & outside. Restaurant with main meals. Excellent coffee. Garden Center & cafe had helpful, friendly staff who were happy to answer questions about products. Gift shop including local products & produce. Expanding rapidly & offering a wide range of garden products. Good selection of shrubs, perennials & bedding. Wonderful range of hostas & acers including bonsai. Fruit trees & bushes. Climbers. Hedging plants. Some larger trees. Definitely worth a visit to explore what's on offer as it changes with the seasons. The large car park is currently partially tarmac & rough surfaced.

Visited for the first time this week and thought I'd died and gone to heaven! The whole experience from a cuppa and sandwich in the cafe to wandering the outside pathways filling up my trolley was a joy. The quality of the plants for the price was so much cheaper than my 2 local nurseries and it was well worth the trip up the M5. Managed to fill my car boot and back seats with everything I wanted! The staff in the cafe, shop and outside were all very pleasant and helpful. Can't wait to come back.

Just discovered this garden centre through leaflets posted to us. Plants are healthy and variety is great. More pots than you can imagine. Had an excellent lunch as well. Booking essential but worth it.

After seeing such amazing reviews, we headed to the garden centre for lunch and for some garden shopping today. The garden centre was great with lots to choose from and really well laid out with friendly staff ... we didn't get to spend long in there though as our thoroughly disappointing and over priced lunch took so long. Not only did we have to wait a long time, with a child for a pre-booked table but the service from then on in the restaurant was poor. My partner at one point had to take our dishes to the counter to order our child's dessert as we hadn't seen a member of staff for twenty minutes after finishing our lunch (we were not the only ones to complain). The main food was bland, i was over charged for a very small glass of apple juice, our child's milkshake tasted weird, my dessert was made up of cheap meringue and chewy tinned fruit and all in all we could have eaten at home for a quarter of the price with a much smaller wait time and much better quality food. We didn't feel like valued customers and the corners being cut in the kitchen were very noticeable. I really wouldnt recommend eating here but the garden centre and coffee rooms are a much better experience. Too bad our experience had already been marked by that point.
