We had brilliant evening at the Beer Engine last night great food, outstanding hospitality from all the staff and a wonderful atmosphere. Probably Devon’s best pub, especially the fact they brew their own beer, with fantastic choices. Would highly recommend.

A proper country pub with fantastic home-cooked food. A good range of different meals which are made (and you can tell) with good quality fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful.A really great pub in a pretty setting next to the railway.Ps. I throughly recommend the steak and ale pie.

Couldn't fault the food or staff. It was very busy Sunday afternoon but we didn't feel rushed. The staff were running around but always found time if you needed anything. The whole atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Sunday lunch was delicious. I had the small and it was still huge. Great value for money. Will visit again if we're in this part of the country again.

Staying in nearby(1.7 miles) in Langford Bridge. Thursday 17th Feb went for dinner, cos why not it was only raining a bit and we needed a walk with the dogs. We had the Steak & Ale pies with chips and veg; it was extremely good, as was the Devon Red Cider. So booked for Sunday lunch, on the 20th, which they managed to squeeze us in for 2pm. Raining again the 3 dogs weren't keen, but Wow, The Triple Meat carvery was a challenge to get through, but I managed it; very tasty. The beef was beautifully pink, and the horseradish hot. The pork and crackling were very good, the chicken cooked to perfection. After a short pause, I even managed to down a triple chocolate brownie and ice cream. The service was very impressive. A nearby table of about 16 got all their meals within about 2 mins of each other. Thoroughly recommend the place.

Visited 23rd October. The snack menu is really good and the portion sizes are generous. The selection of beer and cider is really good. I tried Amber Warning (if I remember correctly). A very pleasant pint. The staff were efficient and friendy. A bonus for another visit is that it is just one stop on the line to Exeter. I've never been to a pub by train before.

What a lovely place! Good food and truly excellent service. They even bagged up the food my daughter couldn't finish so she could take it home. We will be going back! Food was lovely and fresh and cooked perfectly. We ate far too much!

The beer engine excels at good tasty fare. With friendly and effective staff, & a wide selection of ales, this is a place to spend time at. All this is right next to a railway station so you may not have to drive.
