The Stag Inn in Mid Devon

We love this pub! It's got the perfect balance of being warm and friendly with beautiful decor and most importantly........very tasty food. Steve and Oliver are accommodating and welcoming and always have a menu worth travelling for.

The best roast I've ever had in a restaurant. The Stag Inn is a beautifully refurbished dinning room and bar. Be sure to check out the original well still visible through the floor by the bar.

Mid journey stop off. What a treat. Extremely tasty burger and home made fries in very well decorated and pleasing venue. Good atmosphere on a Friday evening. Recommend.

Fabulous pub . Wonderful food. Warm welcome

We had drinks at this place one random Sunday and it was so memorable and inviting we had to return. Steve and Oliver the owners are the sweetest people. All the little personal touches, the atmosphere and food are just wonderful. Will definitely be going back. And even though a little drive away from home is now on one of my fav lil rock-ups xx

What an absolutely gorgeous pub!!! The owners managed to modernise it elegantly while keeping its beautiful and ancient history. Had a delicious meal and spent a wonderful evening there just soaking up the atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Tasty food but small portions for the price charged. (£15.00 for a small oval dish of cottage pie and a small ramekin of peas).The starter of Mackerel patè for £6.50 was literally just that, 3 quinelles of patè and a smidgen of chopped spring onion and a sprig of pea shoot garnish, nothing else. Our booking had been forgotten which was made 2 weeks earlier but it didn't cause a problem. We were put on the end of a long table though which was a bit disappointing for a meal out as a couple and no candle on our table unlike all the others. We were offered water for the table which sadly never arrived.So all in all, a nice meal, freshly cooked with a friendly waiter, but short on finishing touches, light on quantity and a bit lacking in the personal touch.I would have scored 3.5 if halves were possible but I didn't rate it as a 4

As a local we are really pleased to see The Stag open again . We went in last night for our second meal in the two weeks that the owners have been serving food . Steve and Oliver have put in so much hard work to get the pub looking stunning .They have found an amazing Chef in Scott . We couldn’t fault the food on both occasions. It was well presented and absolutely delicious. The extra touches of homemade beer bread with your meal and white chocolate fudge with chocolate soil with your coffee are delicious.Well done to you both and we will look forward to many more meals at The Stag.

Great pub, sensitively restored. Very good atmosphere, food and perfect selection of local ales. Landlords went far and beyond to help us out with some extra requests we had at closing time. We’ll definitely stop there again when passing... highly recommend!!!

Four of us had a excellent meal last night, Rack of Lamb, Salt Cod, two burgers, two Sticky Toffee puddings & coffee, well presented & delicious. Very welcoming, looking forward to going again soon. Thank you Oliver, Steve, Chef Scott & waiting staff.
