Asian Spice in North Devon

A group of four of us had a table booked for 8:30 on Saturday night - we got there about 8:10 and got seated as there was only about 4 other tables in use. We ordered drinks and popadoms which took a while and the pickle tray was not great - very watery! We ordered mains and while waiting we had the misfortunate of using the toilets - worst I’ve ever seen in a restaurant! 1 hour later our mains arrived cold!!! You could tell they had been sitting a while with the skin that had formed on the sauces. This place inly cares about takeaway, the manager is a horrible human being. I’ve been lucky to see a lot of the world and this is by far the worst restaurant and service I have experienced. The local council should inspect this place (I will be contacting them) as there is no way this passes basic hygiene levels.

Had a table booked for 6pm Saturday 12th February food didn’t arrive till after 8.30. All the other tables were the same, one table walked out. When the food came they’d got the order wrong. They did rectify this quite quickly but my food wasn’t really warm. There were 2 young people front of house, very pleasant but disorganised. The impression was emphasis on doing the takeaway side of the business. The food was delicious apart from being cool, no one came to check everything was ok, in fact we had to go to the desk to order more drinks as no staff to order from. No apologies were offered, no discounts offered. Other tables kicked off and were offered free drinks/money off food. Definitely will not book there again. BTW their takeaway was stating 50-60 minute wait on website so if I use them again it will be a takeaway allowing a long time lag. Really disappointing experience.

Worst Indian delivery we have ever had it was cold. He even asked for it back before refunding the money! Omg recycling that bad food

A cold wet Saturday night in January,our first visit to The Spice, A warm welcome from the staff in what was a chilly but clean restaurant. We have eaten curries all over the country over many years and find it difficult to get a really good one, Well if your ever in Bideford look no further than The Spice the food is fantastic full of flavour and very very tasty and not at all expensive. there is also parking outside the restaurant Would we go back yes in a heartbeat if in the area. Would have given 5stars had the heating been a little better. Foot note if your disabled the restaunt is up a flight of steep stairs but there is a lift.

The food was delicious but the tandoori grill was slightly chewy, the service was great and the view from the table was amazing

We saved this restaurant for the last night of our holiday and it didn't disappoint us. Good food and friendly service and bigger than it looks.

Really tasty food here. Very friendly and attentive staff. Had a great evening out as part of our southwest coast path trip.

After an initial slow start being seated and served, they were really busy, we were very pleased with the service and most importantly the quality and standard if the food we ordered. Lovely flavours, plenty of food in each dish. I have eaten in many similar restaurants and this one would make my top 3. If in Bideford you should give if a go, but make sure you book a table.

Always great. Caught then on a short staffed evening, but still got great service. Good teams on the menu and the Chicken Tikka Masala is as good as I've head anywhere. Just a note for any less mobile customers, the staircase is steep.
