Awful how can you charge for that so called food I'm not a picky person atall I don't know if we caught them on a bad day i don't know but my 2 daughters and partner have fallen sick almost immediately after eat not even half of the meal re heated microwave disgusting food I've tried calling them to find out how it was cooked but no answer I highly recommend not going ! If the owner reads this I strongly suggest you sort your food out or stop severing it and that's me being polite ! I work hard for my money I suggest you do the same ! Such potential for a nice pub !

This place used to be a decent pub to go for a hearty meal, and a good atmosphere. The decor always sketchy, but ultimately a solid experience with good beer. Wow, since the new owners have taken over this place has plummeted. Friday night about 6 people in there. One young couple yelling at the bar into their phone which was on speaker phone to someone else. The whole bar, well 2 other people, were deafened by their call. The landlady just stood behind the bar scrolling on her phone. Didn't bat an eyelid. The same when we arrived and left, she never looked up, just scrolled. I'd like to say the food is good, but it isn't, we tried it back in December, the apple sauce was rank, the meals out of the freezer and quickly microwaved, boiling on the outside, cold in the middle. Awful. This feels like a place waiting to close down.

Lovely, warm welcome when we called in on the off-chance we might be able to get lunch. Food is good, unpretentious country pub fare made with high quality local ingredients. Service friendly and quick. I have a feeling we may make a special journey back there again as it was so enjoyable.

A lovely festive Christmas Lunch, enjoyed by members of our local walking group. Good food, drink and service. Thank you Amanda, Antonio and the rest of the team at the Castle Inn for all your hard work and looking after us.

I have attached a photo of my vegetarian roast; an entire packet of paxo shaped into a pie topped with a jar of cranberry sauce. Accompanied by raw carrot and a side plate or generic vegetable mush with cheese. To top it off the waitress poured the gravy all over my lap while she was delivering the food to the table. She apologised while still continuing to pour it, so I guess that’s ok?Some of the starter (whitebait) was raw. The cooked bits were nice though.Overall the staff didn’t seem to know what was actually on the menu and we had to keep reminding them of items they had forgotten.Worth going if you’re not hungry, it’s quite entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons.

We were off to spend 2 nights in Appledore and we normally look for a place to stop for lunch on the way. Looked on a few travel sites for recommendations. The Castle Inn was a second choice as it was a bit of a way off our route. We were not disappointed at all. Very nice village setting, nice looking Inn from the outside, great atmosphere inside. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Food was very nice, and fairly cheap. The wife had prawn sandwich which came with chips and I had pie and chips. If I had to moan about something it would be the pie, I love my pie's with a pastry top and bottom, mine came with just a pastry top. This did not take anything away form the taste, mmmmm. We were hoping to call in on the way back but it was a bit early for lunch. Still not worry there is always next time.

A brilliant little inn!Arrived later than the posted check in time, but let the innkeepers know. They accommodated us very well and understood we would be travelling a long way.Arrived around 2130 and they had unfortunately suffered a power cut, to no fault of their own.We were greeted very politely and was shown to our room via torchlight. The owners couldn’t have been more apologetic about the power failure but nevertheless the room was spotless, neat and tidy.We came down to the bar for drinks and had some lovely draught cider. The bar was full of friendly people and during our drinks the power was restored. Our sleep was very peaceful and comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee with fresh milk. Fresh orange juice was also available. The shower/toilet was very modern with a lovely warm shower and shampoo included. Our towels were very clean and soft, which matched the supplied house coats found in the cupboard.Breakfast was served at 8am. With cereals, fruit, yogurt and berries on the bar. Our waitress came over and took our hot breakfast order. Available was bacon, sausage, egg, hogs pudding, mushroom, beans, toast etc. Breakfast was very nice and served in good time.Checkout was easy and would have loved to have stayed a second night but I was away on business.I will definitely stay again as it is great value for money.Thank you!

We booked in with our dog through Booking.com not knowing that the smaller double room was really unsuitable for a dog, so Debbie and Ian very kindly gave us a free upgrade to the bigger double room. Lovely clean, spacious, airy room. Super comfy bed and such soft sheets. Lovely roomy bathroom with powerful shower. Quiet and pretty location. Private and safe parking. My husband is a coeliac and Debbie couldn't have been more careful with his diet. Superb breakfast.100% recommend.
