Great service and great food. I really recommend the fish and chips as it is the optimal food to eat next to the sea-side.

We had the best experience eating at this inn. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating despite it being very difficult to secure a table due to the inn’s popularity - definitely book as there will not be room if you just show up, as we found out on our first attempt! The food was fresh, homemade, well cooked and presented and very quick to arrive. We were tended to very well in terms of being checked up on and provided drinks and enjoyed our visit from start to finish. Rounded off our last night in Barnstaple and we will definitely be coming back!

Booked based on previous good reviews but this was not reflective of our meal. Having checked more recent reviews it seems others have had similar experiences with the rude and patronising manager.Having ordered the ribs from the specials board, they arrived and looked as though they'd been reheated with BBQ sauce piled on top. The ribs themselves were poorly cooked and over half was pure gristle. Chips also seemed to be from frozen and onion rings were soggy.I normally avoid complaining, but my partner found the waiter and politely explained the disappointment. The manager then came to the table and was incredibly patronising, explaining that I had probably just not had 'proper' ribs before. In doing so, he also admitted that the ribs had actually been cooked the day before. After being told why we were in fact incorrect, he then asked 'what we wanted him to do about it?'. As people who would never usually complain, at this point the whole situation felt so uncomfortable that we just wanted him to leave the table. We asked younger waiter for the bill, but had to go to the bar to the manager to pay by card. Only after we had paid the full bill, he offered 'sorry you had a bad experience'. There seems to be a common theme in negative reviews of the manager placing blame elsewhere. My partner's curry was nice, but the above interaction had ruined the meal and evening by that point.

Drove past here a few times when out and about while on holiday nearby & after checking the reviews decided to give it a try. Lovely friendly staff and good covid-safe processes on arrival.Portions are very generous so be aware of this if you would normally like a starter AND dessert!Planned to share a 'Mozzarella sticks' but a mix-up meant we ended up with a portion each... Be aware, the waitress said she calls them 'Mozzarella Sleepers' and she's not wrong! They are to standard mozzarella sticks what The Hulk is to Bruce Banner - bigger, crunchier and not for the faint of appetite! I finished mine and also one of my wife's - yum!We then opted for house special 'espetada' hanging kebabs - I went for the prawn & monkfish & my wife the beef. Both were very nice (I liked the peri peri sauce with the beef) and served with salad & fries (which I barely made a dent in!)... finished with a couple of scoops of ice-cream (not for me - I was stuffed!) and a coffee...Good value, particularly if you have a big appetite.

What's not to like?A real characterful old inn, set in beautiful surroundings near a small stream, which maybe gave the village its name. An ample car park on the opposite side of the road provides space for all visitors. The owners are friendly and know how to treat people. Two or three real ales plus decent supporting taps at great prices. Not tried the food yet, but always smells lovely.

We found The Muddiford Inn very welcoming as we visited for a meal and drinks. The tables were well spaced out and the bar staff wore masks. Lovely meal and friendly service, we would come again if we ever pass through, thank you!

Great place to eat and drink if your in the pub food. The food was fabulous and the customer service was amazing, probably because was lunch time and nobody in there 😅. Try the blue cheese burger it's out of this world 🍔 and the chicken pie was fresh and delicious.

Wonderful food in a modern pub setting and very efficient service. They also cater for kids which was good for our boys..the country veg soup was amazing!

Excellent meal, but spoiled by slow service (1 hour wait) and sticky tables. Nice selection of food on the menu including fairly adventurous choices such as the Duck and Kimchi burger (if you are feeling fancy).I opted for the 8oz sirloin steak which was nicely cooked. For around the £20 mark I would have expected a few more chips (just got a small cone) and had to resort to stealing a few from a fellow diner. The quote of the evening comes from my dad: "if I hadn't have had that garlic bread I would have died of starvation". 😂 (Waiting for the meal)At the end of the dinner he said: "Shouldn't have had that garlic bread!"

Disappointing after reading the glowing reviews I read about this place.Scampi and chips and gammon and chips were both a bit greasy and the peas were inedible.I had mango sorbet for dessert which was okay but my partner had ice cream which was awful and the strawberry flavour had that Angel Delight type of taste and the vanilla had a greasy aftertaste. Will definitely not be returning here.
