Take Thyme Fish Restaurant in North Devon

Finding this restaurant was like finding a diamond in the rough. We struggled to get decent seafood (not your standard battered cod & chips) for a while and we accidentally came across this lovely place. Food was fantastic, the staff were great and the atmosphere perfect. We will most definitely be going back there.

Brilliant, amazing, the best fish. Excellent service from friendly owner. It was a busy lunchtime service but we didn't feel ignored or rushed. Loved the mussels and crab, and had the best calimari.If you are in Ilfracombe and you like fish, go and treat yourself.

I had Whitebait, starter and Moule Mariniere main.The Whitebait were breadcrumbed, rather than floured, which made them too crunchy, in my opinion.The mussels were done in a very light white wine sauce with spring onions and celery, which was excellent!Friendly, polite staff.

Delicious food and so friendly - Tara runs a lovely little restaurant - 100% recommended but you might want to book in advance if possible

Amazing food! The owner Tara makes everyone feel welcome. My sister said best squid starter she's had. Recommend the Mediterranean Fish Stew, rich and full of flavour

Disappointing. After reading such positive reviews, we were sadly rather underwhelmed. It felt more like a cafe than a restaurant. The fish was delicious, but it wasn’t hot, not more than warm. And the salad was less than inspiring, resembling a 1980s style. A real shame.

Lovely atmosphere topped by fantastic fresh seafood... a perfect start to our weekend away, well done team Take Thyme!

An absolute find! Delicious food in comfy surroundings. The staff were charming. We are going back again tonight!

Just had a most excellent evening, vibrant atmosphere, friendly attentive staff and wonderful food.Based on tonight's experience I would suggest booking is essential. We were booked for opening time at 19:00 and arrived 5 minutes late, the restaurant was already almost full at that point.Heartily Recommended.
