Tea Garden:Cash Only (not advertised). No ToiletCream Teas Only and as others have said, nuked supermarket multipack versions which are small and dry. Clotted cream yes but cheap jam more like jelly with 0.001% fruit content. Coffee was freeze dried and very weak. No gluten or dairy alternatives. Unsure about the legality of this business venture...

Perfect 1 night stay in a twin. A warm welcome, motorcycles safely stashed in the garage. The owner gave us lots of options for eating and for ale, the perfect host throughout. Breakfast was good, and we were graced with a casual start and plenty of coffee. Superb.

If you’re looking for a very average cream tea thrown at you by a man with all the charm of an aggravated wasp, here’s the spot for you. What a beautiful setting and joyful holiday atmosphere spoilt. My first recommendation would be to give this place a miss. If you ignore this advice then please at least make sure you pay by card.

This family run B&B with its Art Deco/Gothic style is comfortable, clean and perfectly situated in Lynmouth next to the river giving easy access to all the area has to offer. The landlord and his lovely wife work very long hours and somehow, find the time to make it feel a personal and charming experience.Well done guys 😎👍

Lovely gardens advertising cream teas. So disappointed in the experience. Staff were both not welcoming and unfriendly. No menus available. No price lists. We were served supermarket scones, supermarket style jam and roddas clotted cream. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else for a good quality cream tea.

Nice garden. Had cream tea here which was nice. Although they serve food and drinks here, you can't use the toilet as they are all in the rooms. We were directed to the public toilets just a short walk away which was ok.

Lovely cream Tea! Stop here for your cream Tea at the start or finish of your walk to Waters Meet as the Waters Meet tea rooms are shut due to a land slide. Very nice lady made us very welcome and served warm scones with lashings of cream and jam. Beautiful garden to sit in could have stayed all day. Dogs welcome.

Lovely accommodation, beautiful property and garden, very happy with the breakfast. The hosts are great. They also run tea room with cream teas. We stayed only for couple of nights, but had wonderful time

I was surprised by all the negative ‘1 star’ reviews for this place. I stopped for a cream tea whilst on a motorbike trip and was attracted by the lovely seating area in the garden close to the river. It might not have been the best cream tea I have ever had (and I’ve had a lot…), but the scone was warm, and there was enough cream and jam - you don’t have to be snobby about shop bought products as other reviewers have; for me they were perfectly fine. The tea was wet and hot and hit the spot. I sat in the shade of the garden, listening to the birds and the river and contemplating whether there were many better places to visit in the world. Peaceful and tranquil. Shame I didn’t get to meet Basil Fawlty like other reviewers - the young man the served me was polite and helpful. I’d go back.

Other reviewers have thought the proprietor here rude and unfriendly. I can see how they thought that, he has a strange way about him, perhaps it's just his sense of humour. But, he has a strange habit which we encountered and also observed in his interaction with other customers: he immediately presses you to have food as soon as you enter the premises. This was best exemplified when a couple walked in to the pretty courtyard garden and asked him: can we sit here (indicating a small table for two). His immediate response was: Scones? Cream teas? Cakes? Bizarre. Another group came in and again werenpressed for what they wanted to eat while I didn't see one menu offered. We started by asking for tea and a latte, was encouraged to have some cake, I agreed to one, he repeated two cakes, I emphasised one cake which we got in good time. However cake was average, the latte was poor. Such a shame as the location and garden is beautiful. Paid in cash after he moaned about the cost of card transactions, which was fair enough but a bit more work on customer care wouldn't go amiss.
