The Cream Tea Cafe in North Devon

Fantastic food here, definitely better than your average cafe!! The mushroom pate was delicious and served with homemade sourdough bread. Yum.

Lovely family run business in the heart of Barnstaple, highly recommended.

Don't touch the Apricot Roulade. Raw meringue that tastes of egg. Apparently it's "supposed to taste like that". I've tasted enough roulade to know that is certainly not true. 🤔

Terrific stop for tea and cake. We had the most delicious lemon and polenta cake with fruit compote and rhubarb and raspberry crumble cake with clotted cream -both incredibly delicious. A husband and wife team -all cakes home baked and a really welcoming feel.

Went today after looking online for somewhere to have a bite to eat .The owners are very friendly ,the cafe is a wonderful place with super fresh food and cakes .We had a sandwich and cream tea very nice indeed .So nice to be told they bake there own bread too.If your in the area we can't recommend this place highly enough .

A lovely place to have a cream tea! Definitely a cut above most cafés. Super friendly owners, great food and a relaxing and welcoming interior. When we are in the neighbourhood, we will come again. And in the meanwhile, could you please consider branching out to Utrecht, the Netherlands?

We stopped in for afternoon tea quite late in the day on Good Friday, so we weren't sure that the café would still be open.We received a really warm welcome and friendly service.The cakes and scones were FABULOUS and the drinks were lovely.Overall a wonderful little café. Thank you.

Popped in for lunch completely on the off-chance and had the most scrumptious food. No trouble to seat six of us and the service was charming and friendly. Everything homemade including divine sourdough granary! What a find! If you are ever in Barnstaple give it a try. It's round the corner from the Pannier Market so easy to find.

Not been here for a year or 2 for the same reason most people haven't - nice surprise to see a new designed seating area and as usual great coffee full of flavour and a good array of homemade cakes on sale - nothing like a cheeky aunt Sally and Worzel tea and cake stop (yeah it's a coffee)

I learned about "cream tea" during my visit to England, and this is the first ever place I've tried it. I'm glad to be wirting the review now, after I've come home, and having tried many, many other places for cream tea. Unfortunatly, the scones are a sorry representation by which to stake the name of their establishment upon. While they weren't the worst scones I've had, there are just a lot better places to get cream tea.
