We had a two night stay booked and before we went I changed our room to a upgrade, when we arrived we were shocked at the state of the place it looked run down filthy windows and very unkempt garden area.. Upon entering no one bothered to greet and yet more worrying the place looks grubby again filthy carpet and tired and dirty wall paper, chipped paint.A young girl showed us are upgrade room,if this joke was a upgrade I wouldn't want to see any other rooms. This is more annoying has its owned by the National Trust and run by Bespoke Hotel also the stay was booked through Virgin break's.None of those organization could have possible visited this place. In my opinion it's a youth hostel except it's more shabby.Avoid like the plague it's a dump.

An extremely gorgeous piece of architecture ruined by the storm but restoration work is already in place.A uniquely positioned place endowed by surreal natural woodlands. The Inn is a reminiscent of the times gone by! To me, it's an important piece of history well preserved in time- the inn reminded me of a similar place at the foothills of the Himalayas, exuding richness of the British Empire. We were lucky to spot a pair of peacocks on the tiled rooftops!

SO DISAPPOINTED, went for a family meal to celebrate Christmas, went to get our table and there was no booking for us, but it was so quiet they could fit us in, that should have set the alarm bells ringing. The starters were amazing could not fault them, the mains where a different story, we had the roast pork the meat was tough, the vegetables were rock hard, they did do a service check about 2 mins into the meal so not really enough time in my view, when we Complained at the end the waitress laughed until we said we were serious, we told her what we thought, she said she would pass our thoughts on, but no feedback came back, only when we asked for the bill and asked again about feed back we were told “the chef was told that the check was all right so as far as he was concerned everything was alright”The amount of uncooked veg left on the all the plates would of been cause for concern for the cook, let alone a so called chef.No apology came from the kitchen, no surprise really if that’s the their attitude.Having worked in the industry for many years, I’m amazed how much the attitude of staff and management has changed. So good luck with your meal and I hope your experience is a lot better then ours

Very romantic set in the bottom of the ancient wood valley. Nothing too much for the staff. Beautifully cleaned and large rooms. More like a country house weekend than a hotel. Homemade cooking (very good) lovely views. Peacocks roaming around outside. Dog friendly. Amazing walks.Make sure you have good tyres, brakes and handbrake. I have never been up and down such steep lanes. Exmoor was beautiful even in the rain. I loved it. Truly spoilt and de stressed. Stayed 2 nights.

Came to The Hunters Inn during the Covid 19 outbreak last year and was so impressed which there procedures in place I vowed to return. Arrived today and did not realise we had to book even though was welcomed with open arms. Staff very polite and attentive. Drinks order taken filter coffee was first rate. Food was plentiful and very nice had cheese and pickle baguette. There was enough for two. Very peaceful and very clean and very peaceful.

As a large group we arrived without booking from a walk, initially apprehensive about seating us, but once seaedt we were quickly served with drinks. Nice atmosphere and lovely location.

Staff tried to be really helpful, despite being short in numbers. This was very similar to many other places in hospitality area , and no reflection on the pub. Sign of the times.I ordered the home made fish finger sandwich which I really enjoyed, and was delivered really relatively speedily.

A delightful place. We sat in an older part of this Inn with a high ceiling and large ceiling lamps. It was very atmospheric and reminded me of places I have visited in the tropics. The food was very good and the service was excellent in spite of the fact that due to Covid restrictions, they had very few staff working on the day we went there. We were impressed by their hospitality.

Such a good place to come after a day on the coast. Food, drinks and service were great. Only criticism would be we expected a vegetarian option burger to match the steak burger but the menu was still impressive.

Amazing food. The service is quick and there are friendly staff. The food it well presented and portions are large. Beautiful location and plenty of seating. We sat outside and there is lots of spaced out benches. This is definitely one of the best outdoor seating areas I have seen. Meals were lovely and the family was satisfied. I would recommend this place for anyone nearby, as it is a great restaurant.Thank you to all of the staff for your hard work!
