The Painted Fan in North Devon

I don't usually leave negative comments on this but I feel this is relevant. Not sure if we've used this take away before but won't again. My wife's chips looked as though they were a week old & full of black bits. My chicken curry was fairly tasteless & the chicken was stringy & rubbery. The curry pocket starter was just a solid ball of deep fried pastry, raw bits included. The wife's veg curry was OK but tasteless. The bbq sauce was nice & the chicken fried rice was OK but very little chicken. The highlight was the very friendly delivery driver.

Popped in during vacation. Two staff at front were amazing. ( young lady training another) they are both awesome and a wonderful 'face' for the restaurant. We will be back next time!

Have always loved their food. Normally order take out using just eat. Very quick service, food is always hot and correct.

Well to start with a positive the pot off hoisin was the best hoisin iv had as for the rest... all a bit strange I would say if a dish is served cold I think it should be advertised on the menu as cold one star says it all

One star is being generousMost awful service, rude staff, disgusting food £65.50 straight in the bin.Luckily just eat refunded £20 of my money. Painted fan clearly are out for profit. No care with food and would not recommend to anyone if anything I would advise you stay away. Previous meals here were good but clearly standards drop in a pandemic.

Disappointing! The order was 45 minutes late, the main was incorrect, the chicken curry was made from the instant mix and it was disgusting. The chicken was processed and rubbery and the curry was without veg/peas. probably the worst food I've ever eaten. Don't waste your money.

! Caution! .. I have a pork allergy and clearly asked for no pork.. they sent rice with ham cut up in it... When questioned they told me ham was not pork!!! ... Be careful if eating here with allergies as staff training and food qualityand taste very very poor.

Absolutely love painted fan they're Shredded chilli chicken and sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style dishes our my favourite they're chow main is amazing too (had to leave that out today) I've just ordered for delivery and I'm sat on the edge of my seat filling up with excitement 🤤🤩

Overall: 10/10. Absolutely fantastic. Has become the favourite Chinese restaurant of my family following our meal this evening.Restaurant: 10/10. Warm, welcoming atmosphere with a simple, but colourful and tasteful decor.Food: 10/10. Some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten and given in very generous portions. My mother, father and I had a set meal for three and it could have easily fed 4-5 people.Staff: 10/10. Excellent customer service. The staff tonight could not do enough for us. I have personally worked in customer service for the past 10 years and am quite hard to impress.Thank you very much to all of the staff of Painted Fan, for making tonight's meal truly memorable.

Clean and tidy. Not sure about decorations.Waitress wasn't very happy, poor first impression.Had good food from set menu, not sure about the soup but everything else was tasty. Also said we could swap the soup for something else on next visit.Good price if on a budget. Drinks of good standard.
