The Rendezvous Cafe-Bar in North Devon

Visited in 15th April for an anniversary meal and I’m pleased to say it was fantastic.My wife is a vegetarian and this unfortunately can sometimes lead to an excellently described dish on a menu being disappointingly bland when served, this was absolutely not the case in Rendezvous. The Bubble & Squeak was delicious and the accompanying veg were amazing. I opted for the Rib Eye Steak and it was right up there with the best steak I’ve had in any restaurant, so tender and perfectly cooked.The deserts were delicious too and all this topped off with friendly attentive staff.If you’re reading this and still not sure, then we can sure you, you will not be disappointed.Thanks Rendezvous for a fantastic evening and next time we’re in Exeter we will definitely return.

Went here for my last date night with the wife before we move up to Scotland and we made the perfect choice! Food was out of this world, wine was incredible and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Loved it

What an absolutely great find! Cannot recommend highly enough. Lovely atmosphere, independent, food is out of this world and the service makes you feel special - nothing was too much trouble (and we were a picky group). Will 100% be returning next time in Exeter.

In the sea of chain restaurants in Exeter, this place is a breath of fresh air. Excellent food and service. Reasonably priced for the quality too. My favourite place to eat in Exeter.

Loved the ambiance of the cellar bar and restaurant. Food and service was excellent. I found the noise of the heavy chairs being moved on the stone floor to be seated and getting up a bit annoying. It won't put us off visiting again though,thanks for a wonderful meal.

The restaurant is on the lower ground floor but we got a seat next to the windows so we had natural sunlight. For the starter I had wasabi cured salmon and my partner had pan seared scallops with hog pudding. Both were well presented. the salmon was lightly cured and orange worked surprisingly well with it. I guess it is still in the citrus family but a bit sweeter than lemon.I didn’t know what hog pudding was but was meaty and juicy and combined well with the sweetness of the scallops.

The service was excellent as was the food. Lovely garden location didn't feel like we were in the middle of the city

Recently took my partner for a surprise birthday meal after many years of salivating over Rendezvous' spectacular menu.Expectations were high and even so were hugely underestimated.From the moment of arrival until (sheepishly apologising after keeping the fabulous staff at work for 2 hours after they had 'closed') 6 hours later was the best evening we have had out!The food was sensational. One of those 'I'll take one of each' situations when looking at the menu. Every plate was skillfully cooked, beautifully presented and hugely delivered on flavour (salt and pepper grinders were untouched on the table).The staff were a joy to engage with and the little touches, unprompted saying the table was for 2 instead of 6 because I had mentioned in the booking email that it was a surprise party, made it such a special evening. The whole team was so warm and friendly we felt as if we had been invited round for dinner at a friend's house! We could tell they had a real passion for their products which made us feel really comfortable in taking wine recommendations, which were bang on.Would highly recommend to anyone whether it be a celebratory dinner, or a cheeky lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, as the Aperol Spritz goes well with any meal 😁😁With Rendezvous you get all the best parts of fine dining - amazing food, quality drinks, fantastic staff with great passion and menu knowledge, without the unnecessary stuffiness and formality!
