Great to see Pie Night back. Pub is under new management since last eating there, but the selection of pies was good, and all very tasty. Only 4 stars as the dessert menu is somewhat limited, it would be nice to see a special in addition to the small selection on offer.

My wife and I called in to this pub on the way back from Devon on 17th June 22.We had a good greeting as we entered the place and were shown to our table..The food we had was very good ,I had fish pie...which I would recommend and my wife had scampi. The bar manager came to clear our table and we got chatting to her. She and her partner and one other person had just recently taken charge of the pub ,that very week if I remember correctly. She was explaining about her plans for the pub and restaurant to us.The lady told us about live music coming to the pub using local talent and other events which she would like to implement as they get more established.I would recommend others giving this pub a try as the lady we spoke to seemed quite enthusiastic and the food was good along with the service..I will definitely be visiting this pub again with my wife and friends when we are in the area again.Once again a pub worth giving a try.Urbie.

Friendly bar staff , tastefully decorated interior. Best steak and guiness pie I have ever had. Large portion and full of ingredients and home made. Will definitely return πŸ™πŸ‘

Menu was food that could be cooked by ourselves at home, no desserts, only had ice cream.Would not recommend as food was awful, gravy granules were used instead of home made gravy, they were extremely salty which ruined my meal. Was not offered any discount or replacement. Disappointed with whole experience.

Having previously enjoyed meals at this pub in the last 6 months we were really disappointed by our experience this evening for a family meal. The menu very poorly presented with limited choice. The fish and chips option of haddock was not available and no alternative fish dish.Drinks were served and order taken for mains. Main courses were served in good time and were fine. After plates were cleared and glasses emptied we waited and waited for the dessert menu and more drinks. No one came over to us and our side of the restaurant was completely empty other than our table. Eventually after at least 45 mins, on going up to the bar we were told there were no desserts and we needed to pay the bill at the bar. Total lack of customer service and unfortunately they have lost repeat business as we will not be returning.

We visited on a wet Sunday afternoon in February about 4pm and it was half empty. We had feared they were full as the website didn't allow me to book. We had the roast dinner, which was pretty good and enormous, though it could've done with another 30 secs in the microwave. The loos were nice, the staff very friendly. I would go back again.

Tried the Botany Bay for the first time.We had baked brie, white bait and mushrooms for starters and burger and chips for main. Presentation of all the food was good, colourful and appealing to the eye. Service from the staff faultless. The only thing that got annoying was the ding dong of door bells. Not sure what it was all about, but it's quite loud.Baked Brie - There was no crackers/bread with the baked brie and chutney. it's hot and runny, so having something to scoop it onto other than a lettuce leaf or piece of apricot from the chutney would have been nice. Needs toast/cracker/rollWhite bait - literally no flesh, just literally skin and bones. I've literally given bigger fish treats to my cat from a packet that were fleshly and bigger! As well as putting fatter sand eels as live bait when fishing! Tiny portion for the price, quite disappointing out of all of the starters.Mushrooms - Were OK but nothing to write home about. For mains, we all choose beef burger and chips If you like salty food this is for you!Pre salted skinny, skins on fries which were warm and hard getting crunchier as they cooled. Beef pattie nice, firm not mushy, again salty. 3 tiny cocktail gerkins, bacon (not mentioned on the description) added to the salty taste as did the cheese. Coleslaw and salsa.. salsa was sweet not smoky to the taste, and the apple and celeriac slaw, not even a fork fill to get a taste.Would rather have the choice to add salt than have it added for us. Good job one of us tasted the food first.Chef/kitchen staff came out and was very grumpy to the bar staff. Not really the place to be grumpy front house. At least take them to one side and have a quiet word. Was surprised to see kitchen staff front of house. We didn't complain about the salt as it looked and sounded like the kitchen staff was already having a tough day without us adding to it!The 3 of us will try it again, as the Sunday Roast was recommended.

We made a stop on our way home from Weymouth on a Sunday afternoon and were welcomed in. There was space for us to eat and enjoy roast dinners with a large array of vegetables including cauliflower and broccoli cheese. Fairly reasonable for Β£15 with beef, gammon and pork and a vegan option. Too full up for pudding. There were a number of special available if you didn't want roast. Would certainly recommend.

Very nice place. Had a lovely dinner with friends. Staff members were very helpful and polite. Food was tasty as well. Definitely worth visiting 😊
