A beautiful day for a lovely pub lunch for two after a good mornings work, is what we thought. We drive past the sign for this pub everyday and keep meaning to try it out as it is so local, really wish we hadn’t. Before I go further it wasn’t a quarter full so can’t blame it on them being busy.Pretty uninspiring menu, we shared a 1/2 pint of whitebait@ about £7, arriving in a basket with 8 in, with more breadcrumb than fish, not a good start. My partner ordered scampi and quite rightly coming from a packet, turned out ok, although asked for the larger portion which was small by any standards.I made the mistake of ordering the lamb tagine with couscous and coriander yogurt, as I fancied something tasty. A tiny bowl arrived with pulp for couscous, a dollop of yoghurt (no coriander to be seen) and lamb all doing back stroke in a pool of tasteless water. I don’t know how it is physically possible to make something so tasteless, felt like I ought to lateral flow because I couldn’t taste anything, just an unsightly bowl of gruel from some prison drama only matched by the hospitality.Wouldn’t return under current ownership if it was free for the rest of the year. Real shame as they don’t deserve such a nice property. The Fontmell is by a distance a no brainer.

We have just had a fantastic meal here, as a family of five with two children with special needs, the food was spot on,puddings and burgers so nice, staff very welcoming and friendly, will definitely be back.thankyou for a lovely evening x

Exceptionally friendly staff, full of smiles and consideration.Food was fairly priced and well presented. The menu had a typical variation.Sadly the steak was a little over seasoned with black pepper and partially overcooked, but it was not enough to consider sending back. Still enjoyable. I would consider feedback to suggest that the peppercorn sauce is made with green, white or pink peppercorns and the overkill of black pepper was too much.Desserts were great. Starters hot and fresh.Parking only has 1 disabled bay.The place is also dog friendly whilst being cosy and clean.

Popped in here for work,A stunning little pub set in a small village. This pub is a hub for the locals with a lot of the villagers using it to meet and enjoy the food. The food that was coming from the kitchen looked and smelt amazing,When I was working in the kitchen you could see the chefs taking the time to make every dish look perfectly presented.my taste buds were on overdrive...so much so that I had to order chips to go... and they didn't disappoint 😋😋As per usual my work took me right into the heart of the building and it was exceptionally clean and tidy throughout. All the staff were really friendly and chloe the landlady should be really proud that her pub / restaurant is so well presented in this idyllic little village.I would highly recommend if in Weymouth area.

Really friendly pub great selection of snacks at lunchtime, perfect place to stop when on route to some of the nearby historic sights, the food was so good.

One of dorsets best kept secrets, a truly stunning village location, fantastic food including gluten free for my wife and the staff were brilliant. We live 45 minutes away but will be returning.

A crackin' food menu, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere!

Perfect place for Sunday lunch. I had cheese soufflé starter and nut roast mains and both were delicious. The cauliflower cheese which accompanied the mains was the best I’ve had for a long time, including homemade! Staff were friendly and pub itself very nice, chairs exceptionally comfortable. Definitely worth a visit.
