We were in Blandford Forum for Sunday afternoon and stopped here for Sunday lunch. Really lovely venue, nice atmosphere, not too loud to enjoy a conversation, plenty of seating inside and out - and the food was really great (we had the vegetarian nut roast as a Sunday roast option, honestly it was better than many meat-based Sunday roasts I've had!) Friendly staff as well. Thoroughly worth a visit

I had a lovely Sunday roast on the 19th of June. On the 21st I returned to the crown for a reunion with old school friends at lunch time. The difference was unbelievable. The food totally sub standard, chips like small tasteless pieces of wood, I ate the burger but nothing else. We moved to the garden after lunch and purchased at least 3 bottles of wine, we definitely didn’t didn’t scrimp. The place was pretty busy as you’d expect, the Crown has always given the impression of a prestigious venue. Something really needs to be addressed as the food plays a huge part in attracting custom. People won’t return if they don’t get value for money. It’s a shame, so disappointing. If I dine out I expect the food to be far better than anything I can cook. For what we paid I could have served up a banquet.

Beer excellent. Good selection.Staff very polite. Pub was very clean.Had a cheesy chips snack. ( 7 chips and about a craft single cheese melted for ÂŁ7. ) that was poor value for money..Cant comment on mains as 8 of us all ordered the same snack and were a bit gobsmacked at the scrimpy amount.

Great outside space with plenty of tables and parasols for those that want shade. Very busy but relaxed atmosphere throughout. Really enjoyed the food which was good value and reasonable portion sizes. The garden is a sun trap in the afternoon. Plenty of parking on site.

Elegant and full of history, this hotel is in my view a hidden gem. Our family room had all comforts and had modern decor but much in line with the period feel of the placeThe restaurant serves brasserie type food of decent quality; breakfast is generous and varied. The hotel is dog friendly too. Look out for quirky details such as the hidden sink and the candle staircase.

I am moving to blandford soon and wanted to start trying the pubs out. It was a very lovely meal and I really enjoyed the service. It was timed perfectly between each course and the waitress gave us excellent recommendations. Looking forward to visiting again

Stopped here mid bike ride. Ate in the pub side. Staff friendly, food good. Ordered a "French Revolution", nicest cocktail I've had for a while, recommend! Great atmosphere, busy but not too busy.

Very good location. Been here with 10 people today, sitting outside.I can not really rate the food as I did not have any… however, the staff and atmosphere is just brilliant. Moreover, the alcohol used seems to be decent (in comparison to other places). It is a bit pricy in comparison to places like wether spoons, but the quality is definitely noticeable.Overall a great experience. I highly suggest the crown hotel, especially for bigger groups!5 stars! Well done :)

one star, you wish...Our visit was a proper disaster!King prawn cocktail with one tiny prawn, tired salad and lots of sauce was not worth the name or the price of ÂŁ5.50.The whitebait at ÂŁ4.00, we sent it back, it wasn't edible at all...The sirloin, aged 28 days at ÂŁ25.50 was at best a thin slice of steak without any taste or pleasant bite. When I asked for some bread and butter, the stale bread came with a portion of microwaved frozen butter... and they charged me ÂŁ3.75 for it.That's abusive!I strongly believe there is no chef in their kitchen only a microwave expert with a touch for disaster. The scarce menu reflects that lack of a proper creative chef.Toby, our waiter tried his best to alleviate the mayhem caused by the lack of quality or substance, but with a kitchen back up like that, he should look for a more rewarding job asap!My best advice is to stay away from this dump of a venue!Oh yes: the two expresso's we ordered came late and were cold...
