The White Lion in North Dorset

Went on Father's with relatives, whilst on holiday in the area. What a charming, quirky Inn, full of character and charm. The garden is gorgeous and full of beautiful country flowers, set out on layered terraces. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Sunday lunch was excellent, large portions and plenty of vegetables. There are a few steps inside the inn, plus thd garden, so check first if you have mobility problems. Really enjoyed our meal here and wish it was closer. Would definitely recommend. An excellent Inn.

Very pretty garden, pretty country pub, lovely customer service, family friendly, gorgeous food! They have live music sometimes too which is good fun, a nice crowd with the inevitable small group of mouthy regulars who think they own the place but other than that a real find and perfect for visiting with friends.

Recently moved to the area and visited here for the first time this week. What a fantastic pub to have on our doorstep. The character of the building is amazing and we were blown away by the garden out the back. There's a great selection of draught beers, ales and ciders too. Excited to eventually try their food.

A fantastic country pub which oozes character. Vast assortment of alcohol and great customer service. The garden out the back has to be the greatest asset with lots of seating and beautiful plants.

We were pleasantly surprised by this charming Inn having had disappointing experiences of inns in the past. The staff were really nice and obliging, and although the room was cosy (understandable given how old the building is), it was charmingly appointed in such a way that you really felt like you were "in someone's home in the country" and the attention to detail was a really nice touch. Not many places to stay, at much greater cost, offer complimentary bottles of water, diet coke(!), biscuits, vanity kits and toiletries. We also ate at the pub and as the sun was out we sat out in the garden which was perfect. We ordered the chicken Penang curry dish and halloumi burger with chips, both full of flavour and generously portioned. The highlights though were the chocolate brownie sundae and lemon posset. After a day's cycling, it was the perfect way to end the day. Highly recommended!

Best roast we had served with 2 meats (lamb and beef) at just £16. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will surely be back. ❤️

Amazing garden's out the back and lovely interior, classic English pub. Food is good.

Five of us had Sunday lunch there yesterday, every member of staff was polite and friendly even though they were very busy. The food was delicious, the vegetables and meats were cooked to perfection.

Really lovely lunch before going to Stourhead. Food delicious and just what we were looking for. Very accommodating of dog and baby, too, seating us at a table tucked away in the bar area. Will definitely return and recommend.

Great local pub/restaurant. Very warm welcome with efficient staff and a great atmosphere. Lovely Friday evening meal with friends. We all enjoyed our food will definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu. Would recommend booking to be certain of securing a table.
